Not the best of games but as soon as we scored the second we looked like winning. Nice double dribble by Gallagher for the third, the top notch Lino for the second half didn't see it. Good fishin for it. Love the spirit and deteonayion in the team. COYW

I too would like to echo what TBKIAH says "love the spirit and deteonayion in the team.

Always a pleasure to win against Maidenhead. Their constant whinging and time-wasting never seems to change, along with their style of football.

Not a good performance but battling to the end shows great spirit.

Great win again for Welling!

Looks like from the messages that they didnt play that well but championship winning sides can do that not play well but still get the result!

Sailsbury slipping up again! Happy day's for the Wings

We MUST play with WIDTH....go dit was sorely missing in the 1st half - we looked soooooooooooooo much better when KHM came on...he gave their defence something to think about

Another one ticked off and salisbury help again......more twists and turns to come yet

I agree with Trigger, Big Ben would have been a good shout for Man of the Match he was immense again as he always is at the end of a season when you need the experience and desire, Cant argue with Jake getting it, he ran his nuts off as usual and scored the winner.

The others want us to drop our guard, what we have done is made it harder for them IF we carry on what we are doing.

coyw, no complacency.

Grinding out results-hoping we can stay up front and avoid the play offs. Half of the new stand nearly headed Kinchy's opportunity home early in the seconf half!

Quality performance form the lino on the new stand side in the second half, should be there every week

Anyone have any idea who the gentleman was who ran the line? Good job he was there yesterday, otherwise it's unlikely the game would have finished.

It believe it was a gentleman called Terry who is a qualified referee. He ran the line at Braintree a few years ago.

He was indeed. Attends every game. Retired for refeering a few years back. Glad he stepped up to the mark and he did a great job. Well done and thank you sir. The only problem is that he mentions that Braintree game every week - he is going to be unbearable now!! I hope the club looked after him yesterday. Braintree didn't even refund his entry fee or give him anything.

That's a tad unfair on Maidenhead - they've only been like that since Hypocrite's been in charge,

Which brings me to another point: why the hell does Dereck Brown associate himself such antics?

I think that is very unfair Russ. Johnson has done an excellent job at Maidenhead and it was a joy to see young Dereck again - not long in a Wings shirt but still a hero, and a gentleman.  They played us off the park first half with passing football, something you do not associate with the Magpies. Whatever you say about Drax (? peculiar nickname) he can dish it out but he can take it as well - and he must have the broadest smile in football (and he is a good manager) - I like him, a lot.

I'd question that, and offer up that we won because of an excellent work rate in 2nd half, and creating enough chances. I agree at Sutton with 5 central midfielders we were poor but that was because we didnt compete effort wise from the off and surrendered control and momentum, I think the fact we have changed systems and improved in a few games is down to us having to up the work rate rather than the change in system?

We did miss Healy, hopefully Cesc will do the business when Jamie picks him. Kiernan had been quiet for a couple of games then on Saturday he was looking electric and did the defensive work. If he plays like that with a bit of confidence we look a different team.

As I have said elsewhere they did play well first half but the goal changed them (for the worse) and they reverted to type with time wasting, feigning injury etc...etc...I think that when the referee got home he would have probably woken up in the morning with their number ten next to him?!

If they continued to play like they did in the first half then they might have had more joy but the time wasting rebounded on them in the end.

I agree with some that we had two many square pegs in round holes on Saturday - a centre half at right back and four central midfield players. I realise Daisy has to rotate and try and keep all the players involved but tactically he got it wrong at the weekend. However we still caused them problems, our set piece delivery was very good throughout and the character and determination from every one of them was top drawer YET AGAIN.

Not sure you can say tactically he got it wrong when we won the game. Faz is out injured, Cumbers is out injured, Connor is out injured, Main is out injured all could provide some width if desired. He could have played Kurtis and Kiernan in a 4-3-3 from the start but not sure how that would stop them passing and moving us off the park in midfield despite us having an extra man!!.

We can still pass and move and play with tempo with 4 central midfielders When you have Obo to link up and give you width. Franks did ok at right back, maybe Jamie wanted experience and not a youngster teams could pin back, pressure or double team.

Did you notice Weston target our full backs for much of the game? In the same way Dover did? Farnborough Manager even came out and said it in an interview, he told his team to pressure De'Reece.  Dont forget that playing 4 center midfielders  often you see Jake or another midfielder back clearing up. Clarkie also covers on the right and Jake on the left as well as their midfield duties. The Midfielders do a job in defence, midfield and attack.

Its not as simple as play wide men and give them beans chaps. I think we can play any system, id just like us to be positive and pass the ball as much as possible and let teams worry about us, rather than us tinker a system to play them, we are after all top of the league, let them worry about us. If they want to press us, no worries, get the ball in behind and turn them round to combat it.

Yes we have injuries and we have coped well without Faz either with Barney or Da'reece. Fraser didn't play badly but I would rather him play at centre half.

We picked FIVE central midfielders at Sutton and still didn't get a klck for half an hour as they seem to be tripping over each other and not clear of their roles on the night and Saturday seemed similarly disjointed? Clearly we also missed One Joe at the weekend (as any team would do on the form he has shown this season) but asking Clarkie to play towards the left and Gallagher towards the right was a mistake (in my opinion) and detracts from their game.

We won the game because they couldn't defend set pieces and didn't attempt to repeat their first half performance. Of course Daisy and his team knows what they are doing but I just feel that, on Saturday, we won with a bit of luck rather than for footballing reasons.
