The Non league paper reports that City players are threatening to strike over the Easter holiday matches if they are not paid outstanding wages ( for February it is alleged) by Wednesday. Apparently City has cashflow problems because of an extraordinary run of postponed Saturday home games.  I hope it is resolved by Friday.  I guess, if not, they will have to field the kids or risk severe league sanctions if the fixture is not fulfilled.  Puts me on a moral spot because I have never crossed a picket line.

My dear OMERTA elb.

Unless you have all the relevant up to date and signed paperwork by the FA, and are approached by Chelmsford to play for them whilst their players are on industrial dispute, then hopefully your morals won't be tested just yet.

On another note,
Lots of discussion on their web site regarding the situation that Chelmsford are in.

With the amount of postponed games this year I would imagine a lot of clubs are well down on revenue and could be in a similar position to Chelmsford. I did read somewhere (it could have even been chelmos forum) that  some clubs estimate to loose £10K in revenue if a game is moved from Saturday to midweek. It would be a nice gesture if the Premiership clubs (those in profit) were to offer interest free loans to help out lower league clubs in this situation. It is also a shame that the FA will not extend by a couple of weeks to avoid teams playing 2 or 3 games a week.

Well...also if rumours are tru that they have a playing budget of over 7k a week then maybe they should look at that too

Despite some of their fans posting they hope we went bust a couple of seasons ago, I hope they get through this. We just need to go at them and play how we usually do at pvr.

Interesting to note that they are expecting Feb money by Wednesday ... God knows when they will get March money then ... in June probably. I think they are going to need to make the play-offs just to clear the wage bill.

As you mention above Tom, if they have a budget of 7k a week, losing some of those players now would help, but they won't.

Also, adding insult to injury, they have paid the non-contract players up-to-date (to avoid them walking out or 7 day approach from other clubs), but not paid the contract players as they, in theory, can't do much about it other than moan. Very unfair. If I were a contract player I'd be spitting blood.

A Chelmsford diehard (no names no pack drill!) has claimed that the City players are probably paid a month in arrears, so, if this is the case, then the amount allegedly owed could be much less. None of our business, I guess, apart from the NLP report of a threatened strike - if it is accurate.  I hope things work out well for Chelmo  - their supporters have cleared loads of snow off their pitch so that the match against Eastbourne can go ahead tonight after a favourable pitch inspection. Hopefully, everything will be resolved tonight.

Are these 3 events just a coincidence?

a) Wednesday 13 Mar 2013: Chelmsford City lose 4-1 at home to Horchurch. A very surprising result.

b) Friday 15 March 2013: The Football Association reveal it is in contact with clubs in the Conference South following claims of suspicious betting patterns. Two bookmakers, including the league sponsors, refuse to offer odds on matches involving Billericay, Chelmsford and Hornchurch.

c) Sunday 24th March 2013: It emerges that many of the Chelmsford City players have not been paid since the end of January.
