Today was pathetic. I never thought I would post this about the current Welling team - but this was Dartford all over again. We froze and handed the initiative to Salisbury. Then, when they had a stand-in keeper ( who performed well) we decide to play more passing football rather than go route one and out to the wings. More indiscipline too, which I hope does not cost us more suspensions. Pissed off is an understatement. I hope the real Wings turn up in the remaining games so we can still seize one of the best opportunities we will ever have of winning this league. Harsh? Probably, but I will be the first to buy the boys a few beers if they prove me wrong - and I hope they do.
There was ONE main reason today and that was we lacked one of our creative players to pick a pass.......It was far better once Joe came on and with Daisy back now we will be far better (Plus Mr Obersteller with his pinpoint deliveries)
salisbury are not second because they are rubbish - they are a very good side
I wondered how long I would have to wait for the inevitable response to my devil's advocate post. Let's hope there is an on-pitch response too. Still, could be worse, like Dover.
Strong words indeed, and as much as I disagree with your description, you went today and as such are entitled to your opinion. It just goes to show how far we have come as our expectations have raised to levels in which many of us have never been privileged to see. Lets hope that you along with many others will be buying the players a drink at the end of the season.
Lets not get carried away. We lost a game we knew would be tough. No bother, it's still in our hands. 2 wins and we're champions. (That's correct, right?)
Sorry fellas, a bit tired and emotional. And yes, having been accustomed to so many brilliant displays this season I guess I expected too much of a stretched team. I cannot wait to buy the boys a celebratory drink.
Don't apologise, youve seen over 1000 Welling games over 35 years, travel long distances, attend supporters meetings and bleed Welling. I am sure the players will do the business.
Saturday should be all the motivation they need. The fans will be there in big numbers.
Keep the faith, never too high never too low.
Only game that matters is our game on Tuesday then onto the next one.

I wasn't there so can't talk first hand but think comments like 'pathetic' don't help anyone. I have seen plenty of players over the years who have picked up there money for little return, but think this squad have been, without exception, been superb in terms of attitude and the level of performance. I am sure we will bounce back on Tuesday and looking forward to being there. Hopefully Dover will bounce back with a win (not something I have ever said before) at Salisbury which will leave us really only needing a point.
Yes I certainly don't think the performance could be described as "pathetic". Without Daysey and, for most of the game, Joe in midfield we lacked the creativity to play our normal passing game. Hopefully both will be back in the side on Tuesday and we will see a very different performance. I think that both games against them this season have shown that Salisbury are a very good side andif nwe beat them to the title I think they may well get promoted via the play-offs. I thought that Barney was probably our best player again but we do need Jack O back as soon as possible as both will be needed when Ben's suspension kicks in as Fraser will have to move back into the middle.
One oddity Saturday was that it was the first time my sports bag has been searched on entry to a BSBS g
