95th minute equaliser for us tonight, I'm pretty sure you've won it now, if we had won tonight then I think it would go down to the last match of the season, but since we didn't, I reckon you've got it.

Thought we started slow, had middle third of the game then let them boss final third of the match. Ref was a nutter. But Staines deserved the point if not all three.

As Salisbury drew no big deal.

A couple of the strange decisions in the second half, there will be more in the highlights. Baffling stuff even on the day after the game.

If anything, last night was a good result. Yes we fluffed up a 2-0 lead, Yes Salisbury equalised with the last kick of the game. But, we havnt lost any ground with our points margin and there is one less game for Salisbury to catch us. Although we should have, we can treat last night as a win. We are fully in control of the league and we know that if we dont win it now, we only have ourselves to blame. We can do this, WE ARE WINGS!

Truly awful decisions. That challenge on Barney was definitely worth a card, but wasn't even given as a free kick.

Quite often if I miss a game and I hear that the ref has been awful, I take it with a pinch of salt. Those two decisions are shockers though.

Tackle on Barney is a definite yellow, wouldn't say a red because the ball was there to be won and it wasn't as if it was studs up, but to not even give a free kick is ridiculous. Barge on Roscoe is a definite free kick, and even if you said he was muscled off the ball (which he wasn't, because the shove came from behind) it definitely isn't a dive! Plus he kept the ball and carried on trying to play.

Watch the Sutton highlights away this season, same ref... Daisy gets taken out in box no pen, Healy gets pushed over in box no pen. Then look at the two in the above video. Amazing scenes.

I thought those decisions were bad at the time but looking at them again they're nothing short of disgusting. The one on Roscoe defies belief, he didn't even ask for a free-kick after getting barged over and gets booked! Ridiculous

I thought most of their fans and stewards were good folk but there was a group of 10 or so in the stand who were jeering and shouting Barney as he was being stretchered off. The same lot who couldn't be bothered to clap their own player when he went off injured!

I trust that, should the nead arise, the club will appeal Ross' booking from last night - scandalous decision.

I realise that an appeal costs money (and of course I hope it doesn't matter anyway) but the ref should be held to task for that decision alone.

Is there a way to report referees to the FA? I wouldn't normally condone that sort of thing but last night's was an exception

You can't appeal a yellow. The authorities would do nothing else if you were allowed

Jamie will have completed a report if he was concerned. I am not sure what the point is though - nothing seems to ever happen. The only time you ever see anything happen is when a prem ref makes a dreadful decision and they are taken off their next game. At our level I have never known anything to happen. The FA are not the most transparent bunch. I imagine if a picture starts to build then it will influence what level they ref at the next year

Point taken but it is a ridiculous rule.

I think Ross got another booking for "simulation" at Basingstoke when the offender was actually Theo!!

So we could potentially lose a player for two games when at least two of the yellow cards he accumulated were plain wrong.

I know it's a reference to the Ali G film but, taken literally, a contradicition in terms - there was only about 6 of 'em.

It may have been overshadowed by his ridiculous booking but Rossco scored his 20th league goal of the season last night. The highest league total by any Welling player in the Conference South.

Not a bad achievement me thinks.

And I think now only one 1 behind the current leading League goalscorer? Jamie White??

Slabber has 25, possibly more, as the leading scorers table is usually incorrect. White may well have more as well.

Think Palmer and Slabber are battling for that title but I'm sure Ross would rather win another sort of title instead.

The ref appeared to be a complete joke. How can Barney be tackled like that and the oppo not be booked? As for Roscoe being bundle over, then get booked - ridiculous. The ref should stick to Sunday pub games.

I think refs should be able to ask for cards to be overturned once they've seen the video.

Agreed.

I can put up with dodgy decisions to a degree. I can put up with refs not seeing an incident or taking a 50/50 incident the wrong way. I can put up with Welling's fans rose-tinted glasses not being shared by the referee, and I can put up with honest mistakes, a degree of inconsistency and the occasional Attwell.

I can't put up with what amounts to either blatant cheating, foul play or dishonesty from officials. Or them being, simply put, ****.

How a decision like Ross's booking can be viewed as anything other than a foul is beyond me. The lack of free kick for Welling is a scandal in itself. But to then make matters worse by awarding a free kick to Staines, and giving a booking to a player that a) didn't dive b) didn't appeal and c) tried to play on in adversity, makes it even worse. They are the things that can change a game, division and promotion winner.

The solution is not to drop the official down a level or remove him for one match like the Premier League seem to do. He will still make the same mistakes, just at a lower less broadcast level, and as a result arguably get away with mistakes more due to the lesser coverage.

I've never known a job or industry where you are held less to accountant than a football referee.

It's a fairly well know and common occurrence in non-league that when match officials are marked out of 100 at the end of games they are given a 61 if they have had a poor game. Why ?? Because marking a match official less than 60 leads to a further report having to be submitted to the FA as to why, and who wants the extra paperwork. Better to just give a 61 and subtly imply he was awful without the further aggro and paperwork for all involved.

What's the solution though. When has anything other than mistaken identity ever been overturned at our level ??

Absolutely shocking.

As I understand it if a ref/assistants have a howler, the marks down they get can have a severe impact on the level they officiate at - and the refs are very conscious of that. [source - assistant ref in conf south].

If you were to award a referee a zero for arguments sake, you would clearly be asked to explain your decision to the FA in writing, and I think in extreme cases its been known to lead to people having to visit the FA. Not something most people would want, or have time, to do. Some seem to think its better to just move on to the next game.

I have just discovered that this Ryan Atkin has recently joined the company I work for. I hope I never have to have any dealings with him in the course of my job, as I may commit a sackable offence.

It has to be worth walking up besides him and barging him over and then simulate with your hands the dive motion!!

I was thinking more of the contents of my cats' litter tray, but a WUFC mug or a Specsavers voucher would be the more intelligent option. :)
