Completely unrelated to Welling United or indeed football.
On 11 May, I'll be abseiling down the National Abseil Centre tower in Northampton. At 418 feet, it's the tallest dedicated abseil tower in the world.
I'm doing this in order to raise money for Wood Green Animal Shelters. If anyone has a spare few pounds and would like to sponsor me I'd be very grateful.
I'd like to say that the Wood Green Animal Shelter seems a worthy charity. Their vision of a world where all pets are well cared for in loving homes for life is excellent. It's easy to forget that there are many worthy charities that rely upon people like you to raise money so that they can carry on the good work. So I wish you all the very best.
However, you mention on the forum that you are going to abseil down from a height of 418 feet, but on your 'just giving page' it mentions a height of 217 metres. I know my maths isn't good........
Anyway, I have a couple of questions for you. 1. What route are you taking? The easy one or the more difficult one?
2. Will you be getting proof at periodic check points (every 10 metres for example) so we know you've not cheated?
My dear brave Moo, hopefully you've completed your abseil successfully and raised a good sum for your chosen charity. In any event, I take my hat off to you and say very well done.
Trigger, indeed I did complete the aforementioned abseil - it was a lot of fun! Thank you very much to you, Squarevanman and Eric for your kind sponsorship.
