I think your right tom this gane and other home games need to be pushed at damson and also at the same time promote welling merchandise available at Danson on the Sunday at the game. also if we could get the trophy for a couple of hours on the Sunday this could be advertised in the programme pusshing supporters towards our stand.
The Wellng United stand at the Danson festival is going to official start of the 50 years Celebration's
The plan for the stand at the show over the two day's is going to having several elements this year, We are having the speedball, and the shop which is going have anniversary merchandise on display and for sale, these are being complimented with an anniversary tent with over 50 items of memorabilia covering several decades on display as well as reminding the community that we are league champions.
I will be asking for volunteers to help set up and man the stall nearer the time but Iam not expecting many takers on the Saturday afternoon slot.

Just found out about the game, willl need to review plans at next meeting, Danson will go ahead anyway regrettably as lead on this project I will probally have to cover the stand whilst the game is on
Could be excellent ...., need to promote the game including pop in and see us if you are visiting the danson festival etc. Proper fans will be there and you could get lots of floaters. Saturday morning great chance to push the game at the festival.

Just not quite as excellent as if it was any other weekend...
What time does it start? 10am? That's a small window as it is to get people to turn up, and an awful lot of people wouldn't bother to be there till the afternoon once they've had lunch/waited for the weather to warm up etc. Can't imagine many families are going to turn up at the park in the sunshine with the kids, and be lured away from all of the free/cheap attractions to go and pay for the lot of them to watch a football match.
Parking will be a nightmare but I can't imagine better publicity than people seeing (hopefully) thousands of people enjoying a game at PVR. Can only raise our profile.
Date and kick off time now confirmed on our website. This seems a very strange decision which means a number of our most dedicated fans will be unable to see the match. I think that clashing with Danson will dramatically cut the attendance and just add to the usual traffic chaos in the immediate area which happens regularly on Show days.
Surely if this is the only date which is available for both clubs it would make far more sense for the game to kick off at 7.30 when people might be tempted to come along to the game after leaving the Show. The match could then of course be well publicised at both the Welling and Charlton stands.

I really don't think we can quibble about this. It is good of Charlton to play us pre-season every year - especially on a Saturday. Also, I gather the Danson Festival is held on the Sunday as well as the Saturday - so still a chance for some of our hardworking stalwarts to see the match if shift patterns are drawn by straws! Tom is right too, a good opportunity to market the club - perhaps a joint venture with the Charlton stand, advertised in advance, involving free tickets for the Charlton friendly for people answering correctly questions about Welling United and Addicks history on the Saturday morning at the respective stands. Perhaps a deal could be done with Bexley Council regarding parking for the game?

7:30 on a Saturday night in summer with lads pissed up after hours on the beer at Danson.....I think not!

It's hardly as if it's a league game between Woking and ourselves. No reason to assume there would be trouble more than any other week. And if it's a case of having to throw out a couple of pissed up troublemakers for the sake of getting 500 extra people through the gate, then so be it.
