I caught the last few minutes of the final on BBC Radio Wiltshire and subsequently the after match comments by the Sailsbury players. At least two of them said they had deserved to win the league!
I'm curious to know how they came to this conclusion?
Did they finished up with more points than Welling? No!
Did they win more games than Welling? No!
Did they lose more games than Welling? Yes!
Did they scored more goals than Welling? No!
Did they concede less goals than Welling? No!
Maybe someone else can come up with an answer to why Welling aren't worthy Champions?
I loved their chairman after... from memory it was something like this...
"Once we pay the CVA off at 25p in the pound we have about 25p in the pound of £50,000 to clear, and i will dig deep and get that sorted soon... We will be going all out to win the league in the Premier, there will be no consolidating"
I bet their creditors are delighted, old and new.

Being full time on their turn over can not be sustainable as it is, how they going to go for the title in the premier? Defiantly going to end in tears! And besides couldn't win this league!

So if they reckon they deserved to win the League all that does is merely highlight how they were only competent enough on the playing side and administrative side to get a team that deserved to win the League to second place. Still doesn't reflect terribly well on you either way does it chaps!

They were 11 points clear in November and so of course they should have won the league. Maybe the players were being honest enough to admit they bottled it and ended up losing out to a better team who but for a slow start would have had the league sown up by February.

Especially considering Cumbers out for the season and Faz for 3 months. Two nailed on starters
In the end, Welling did deserve to win the league, that's fairly obvious. We messed up in February, and you overtook us. After a whole season, you were the better side, especially considering your part-time status. Out of interest, will you be staying part-time next season, or will you be making the switch? It was a very good game to watch, with an attendance of 3408, that is a new record at the Ray Mac, 300 more than the FA Cup 2nd round match against Nottingham Forest in 2006, and that made for a great atmosphere. I feel that we were the better team, and deserved to win, and some neutral sources seem to agree, as well as some Dover fans. Can't wait to get next season started!

We'll still be part-time but with three rather than two training sessions per week, I think.
We weren't really at the races against Salisbury, and I include the game at PVR in that. That came near the start of our 12 match winning run when the team was still gelling together and starting to recover from a pretty poor start to the season. In the away game we were without Faz and Obersteller - two quality attacking full backs who provide most of our width going forward, while Joe Healy, our main creative outlet, wasn't fit and only came on for the last 20 mins or so. From those two performances I can understand why some of your fans think you are the better side - but the league table doesn't lie. I think both sides will survive in the BSP next season.
Of course, the 12 match winning streak, a new league record wasn't it? Quite an achievement, and in my opinion, helps prove why Welling deserved to win the league.

Thanks Liam and a well deserved win over Dover for you. I look forward to visiting the R Mac stadium next season.

Thanks, we look forward to seeing you back here. I would love to come to your place, but as a student, I don't really have the money or the way to get there.

Liam is clearly one of their more objective supporters. Presumably they will have to segregate regularly next season as some of the supporters don't like swapiing ends and I would suggest if they start giving the likes of Aldershot supporters the six knuckle shuffle sign they gave to us, their stewards will be very busy.
I'm glad they have got promoted. The runners-up deserve it and there are some decent pubs in the city. I look forward to re-newing the rivalry next season.

Agree there Mark, I stayed overnight with some friends and sampled some nice brews in a few good old pubs.
Last time Aldershot came to our place, I believe they beat us 4-0, and some of their fans invaded the pitch, stopping play. I think it was being televised as well. The season that Aldershot got promoted to league 2. I would have thought we will have full segregation for all matches, no matter how many away fans there are, just seems to be the way in the Conference Premier.

Dirtford only segregated five games.
Never know then, I seem to remember almost all the games being segregated, but we were averaging a lot higher crowds back then, so that probably played a big part of that. Of course, the conference premier nowadays has much more norethern teams, so we can probably expect even less travelling support.
