Been having a look round some of the teams we are playing next year and would advise anyone going to away games to look at the official websites. For instance Chester welcome away fans in their clubhouse it cost £1 however once they reach 120 capacity no more entry and the nearest pubs are 20-25 minutes away. One club (cant remember which) has an early bird offer where you get £2 off admission (£1 for old farts like me) if you buy in advance via telephone. Lots of clubs have segregated areas for all games some are all seated (like Luton) some are a mixture of standing and seating.

Anyone thinking of rail travel both East Coast and London Midland do a form of group save for 4 people. Virgin on the west coast line  only do a 10% reduction on groups the tight ##ds. Advance purchase tickets are usually available from around 10-12 weeks before traveling but remember these are restricted to travel on booked trains only. Whilst I guess many fans traveling by train will sample the delights of the splendid bar arrangements at mainline stations some fans may wish to get a snack or burger. If you apply for a bite card this will give a 20% discount at many of the overpriced eating establishments such as burger king. It can be obtained online and is free. (It can only be used at major mainline stations). www.bitecard.co.uk

Both National Express and Megabus run coach services and can be cost effective if booked well in advance.  An example being the cheapest coach from Victoria to Newcastle for Gateshead (if booked 3 months in advance) is £14 return. This is for going out on a Friday and back on a Sunday.

www,nationalexpress.co.uk      and    www.megabus.com

Hope some of you find these little snippets of some use

Just checked and both National Express and the Trainline can be found on the spend and raise thread that young Bruno has put on this forum.

Bite Cards also give you 20% off beer in some of the station bars (including Charing Cross and Waterloo).

After which I would assume the price of a pint is still more expensive than round our way!

No. A pint of GK IPA (not my tipple of choice) is £3.60 before the 20% discount brings it down to £2.88.

However despite the Bite card allegedly being availabe in Burger King it isn't at Marylebone because it is not the right franchise operator. And how is Joe Punter supposed to know that at a glance?
