Post in this thread if you see any deals for trains or coaches or are driving and have spaces for petrol. Would be a good idea to post in advance as sometimes deals are there if you book 3 months in advance or vouchers appear for train websites.

National Express to Wrexham is £17 return but cant be done on a day and needs a B&B for one or two nights but still would be cheaper than train i think.

Looking ahead, Advanced train fare to Southport is currently £32 return and Hyde is £34.
The last direct train to Liverpool Street from Braintree is at 2200 which would be tight as the ground is over a mile from the station. This would be a good one for car sharing
