Shame that in the first game of the season we don't have any more real options on the bench.
Daisy must be injured. KHM is injured. Ober must be injured to not be playing. Pires is already on. That leaves JoeBo, and brining him on would just show negativity and invite them onto us further

I don't understand why Jack didn't start either, but maybe he had a knock and Jamie was worried he wouldnot do 90.
Some last ditch Wrexham defending
just prevented a Clarke equaliser.
I get the feeling we need a 'full strength' team to play these games....however we have just played one of the favourites AWAY and lost 2-1........lots to take out of this i will guess
Great to see us be really positive and have a right good go away from home against one of the biggest teams in the league......onwards and upwards COYW

Unlucky lads. Could've been a draw and maybe should have. I did think we were a bit poor, but that was probably due to you having a decent game. I'm sure you won't have any problems with a mid-table finish.
Bet365 are offering prices on loads of markets including to score first, last or anytime on Saturday.
My pick.. Healy to score at any time 11/2
Bookies clearly not done their research as Luis Cumbers is joint favourite to score first for us. Ross is 10s to score first 11/4 to score at anytime in game and 100/1 to get a hat-trick.
Good Quality game which we could have easily got something out off. I thought we were brilliant from the off. Played with a pressure-less style which I was hoping for. Brilliant individual performances by Healy and Guthrie and fine play at times by Clarke and Gallagher. Bergvist saved us a bit early on today. Can't really moan too much about the goals we gave away today. Second goal was from poor defending but a good finish indeed, and the first Wrexham goal was a good hit into the corner. Butcher played well too.
Only negative I can think off today is...the lack of desire by Loick. I don't want to say it but it seemed like he didn't want to be playing today. He looked tired. He was sloppy. He was slow and last man to the ball almost every time.
The game retained changed when Healy went off. Seemed that as soon as he set foot off the field, we looked to try and hold back which allowed Wrexham more space. Other than that, I have to say a quality day. Not a damaging defeat. Shown to the big clubs that we can face the likes of them and make them work for a result. Good confidence if anything for Wednesday. Fans for us was great today. Attendance was great and the town centre was fine. All in all, brilliant day out. ROLL ON CAMBRIDGE! COYW!

Disappointing if true about Loick. Listening to the BBC commentary I have to say, I did notice that the commentator only mentioned his name once, and I think that was when he gave away a foul. Fair enough we might have been under the cosh by then, but Roscoe still got plenty of mentions in the latter stages (although they did call him Kevin Lafayette at one point) and it sounded like he was making life difficult for their defenders throughout.
We know what a good player Loick can be on his day. Let's hope those days start coming more often as of Wednesday. COYWs!

In fairness to Loick, he can be a great player on his day. But we can't have players who only have good games at certain times. We need consistency by strikers....
Very harsh criticism of Loick. At that stage in the game, Guthrie (who had an excellent first half) was anonymous, because we were under pressure and he was spending all his time tracking back. We had to change something to try to alleviate the pressure and when Loick came on he also spent all his time tracking back, as well as playing in a position in which he's rarely played; and, as has mentioned, he has had some injury issues and isn't quite match fit.
Let's not get on his back after one match. Judge him over the whole season.

Bit harsh on Loick there. He's carrying an injury and I believe had some injections in his knee in the week.
We need consistency by strikers?? He's only played 20 minutes so give him a chance! You also need to remember that the reason players are at this level of football is because they are inconsistent. If strikers were banging in a goal every game they would be playing at a higher level. While Loick or any other player is wearing the Welling shirt they will have my full support and to question their lack of desire after 20 minutes of 1 game is ridiculous.
Superb performance today by the team, deserved at least a draw. Thought Hudson, Bergqvist and Dyer stood out.

For anyone who wasnt there, check the bbc stats and the stats in Non League Paper. You wont get many sides go there and have more shots on target than them, create lots of corners and match them for possession. Get behind the boys that was an exceptionally promising display and Jamie will not let them drop their standards, theyve set a benchmark and could easily have been out of sight at half time and were so unlucky to lose to a late goal. To nitpick is crass.

Harsh on Loick, Wrexham were on top when he came on and were pinning us back in our half, loick played his part trying to stop the full back coming forward
The interviews are goodfrom Wrexham, fair play to Wrexham manager and players for being straight and saying we were good. They won with good grace and sometimes clubs dont do that.

Thanks for all your help and advice throughout, Cpd. Can't speak for all the Welling travelling "masses", but we couldn't have been better welcomed back to the top table. We arrived early and a local happily gave us useful directions and the lady in the Centenary Bar was very welcoming too.
I think many of us came away disappointed at the end result, yes, but pleased, hopeful and excited about what we can do this season based on that performance.
Hope as many of you as possible can make the journey down in December (you might have to form an ordely queue at the Wings Bar, mind).
