Most Cambridge fans ok last night and on train back from Welling afterwards many had praise for the Football we played. However it really annoys me when 'bigger' clubs fans don't change ends. This is one of the best aspects of non league Football and should be maintained. I suspect this is a legacy of segregated grounds but Cambridge have had 8 years of the Conference so should be used to it by now.
In a game last night it's hard for us to make much noise if we are drowned out by the oppo, if you are going to bring a silly drum then stand with your own fans.
Obviously this won't apply to Luton etc as they will be segregated.
Saturday must be segregated i would have thought> Yes they were very friendly and there were no problems last year when we played them in the trophy. But in a league game when a few more of their "hardcore" fans turn up, it may be in the best interests to segregate?

I would hope we can sort one of the ends for next season for away fans then put them in there every game. Its easy then, much like many away games where teams stick oppo fans in there every home game.

Agreed. I don't get this Grimsby love-in and I think people are going to be in for a shock when they arrive for a game that actually matters.
They came in what was, for them, a relatively small number, to a game they didn't really care about. And they won so had no complaints.
Despite that I was challenged to a fight by a couple of knuckle-dragging trawlermen when I made a joke about their drummer (not anything offensive, but admittedly still a mistake on my part.). Thankyou to Mr Levett for bringing me to my senses when I offered to accept the invitation
Lets look at facts (im not disputing people saying they feel it should be segregated, thats their opinion and many would agree).
They brought 300 plus, For the Trophy game... at Ebbsfleet they took 400, They didnt really care about the game? they got to Wembley in the final and their management said they were all out to win leading up to the game.
I havent seen Welling say its not segregated yet and i guess they can say it is upto Saturday if they get any intelligence. They dont just stick their finger in the air and say shall we shant we?, they have meetings with the football intelligence and local police regularly.

Because a lot of Conference teams don't bring the same number of supporters to FA trophy games than they do to league games. They are likely to bring a lot more supporters than they did last season and I would have thought segregatio would be the easiest and most practical option.

And yes Kevin, it does when they have morons who insist on banging away on a drum whilst standing directly behind us. Knowing your hatred of the England Band, Vuvuzelas and the like I thought you'd appreciate that the further away they are from the home supporters the better. Partly to save our eardrums, and partly to avoid one of our faithful shoving said drummers' sticks where the sun don't shine

There's a world of difference between the management/players caring about the game, and the supporters caring about it. With regards to segregation the latter is the key. You're kidding yourself if you think the FA trophy is more important to them than getting into the Football League.
Grimsby's fans wouldn't have caused a riot win, lose or draw last season. They were top of the league at the time and everything I heard indicated that for them a win would be good, a loss wouldn't be the end of the world, and a replay would be a disaster.
I'm not saying they're going to start trouble this time, but if we were to win then it's more likely. I don't have any reason to believe they're any better/worse behaved than the fans of any other club, but it's more likely in a league match where there is more riding on it (in their opinion), and where they will bring 600+ fans as opposed to 300.
Drums should/must be banned. If we are banning umbrellas then how can we let someone in with a drum? Why do we let the opposition create an atmosphere, silence them and their fans. No drums.
Yes, please ban drums, trumpets and air horns. Frankly, if away supporters need these ghastly instruments of torture of the ear drums (which ruin most home fans' enjoyment) then they cannot be particularly effective at singing and chanting. Why hand an advantage to away supporters and, consequently, the away team?
I entirely agree with banning drums, they completely spoil other people's enjoyment of the matches. I recall a couple of seasons back when we played Basingstoke at Dartford's ground leaving 20 mins from the end (something I have never done before in 50 years of watching football!) as the incessant drumming by Basingstoke fans was giving me a headache. Likewise left the new stand when Dover supporters invaded it at half time as the drumming was giving out dangerous levels of noise. Having had some experience of health & safety matters I can seriously state that ayone standing next to incessant drumming for 90 mins is risking damaging their hearing.
Although we like most clubs have a few dick heads I wouldn't call any of them that actually travel hard core. Most of the proper hard core are probably on bans anyway or would most likely travel to either a big game ( no disrespect ) such as a cup game against a league club or against our local rivals.
Some of those that turn up may act massive but they are not.
If any of you want to smack our drummer please do, you have my full authority, he drives me mad.
Hard to say how many will turn up as we were quite frankly hopeless against Aldershot, we were better against Gateshead but still didn't look like a team likely to challenge for top spot.
After much of last season's hoofball we now play a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 system which over the past few games has left our one and only forward isolated. Still it depends on which players they pick.
We do have a fairly good following in and around London so may have 3-400 turn out.
Anyway I will be down there with my lad after meeting a mate from London, so here's to a good game.
I remember looking at the fishy forum after last years Trophy game and a few Grimsby supporters felt embarassed by their drum and wanted to see it go. I am all for banning drums etc although I did miss the Eastbourne cow bells last season.
Segregation - we didn't against Dartford or AFC Wimbledon in the past who had much more support than most teams will have this year at PVR but I suppose certain teams have a dodgy element.
As for changing ends, i don't think a lot of people like to bother and if no segregation why should they?
If we don't segregate then we need clued up stewards who can spot the potential and act on it. Don't think we have this myself.

Haha sounds like i shouldn't of held you back at the trophy game Mr ashford Wing!!!
As for your formation its the same as ours, so i'll go for 2 teams cancelling each other out and call it a draw.
