Gk must be the harshest position in football. Make a mistake and its massively obvious to anyone. Striker? miss a sitter you'll get another go. Four strikers can rotate as the season goes, etc etc, keepers can't. You need a permanent No.1 and Jamie has decided, it seems, that is Butch. Good luck to him. Harsh on Motty? yes, perhaps. It's rarely the case you can hang on to two great keepers though. Shame.

Ah ok thanks. Seems a very odd decision to me, harsh on Motty as well

And of course we don't see what goes on in training, or if Motty's injury could be problematic...

Spoke to him outside the Guy Earl last weekend and he was back in full training and hoping to play in the KSC against Dirtford, will be interesting to see if he still does.

A conference team needs decent back up for a key position.

Wouldn't say butcher has done enough to displace Mott and has been at fault for a few goals must be a finicial thing.

He hasnt done bad, made one error. Also was Orients keeper before an ACL injury. Sam has been unlucky to get a bad injury when a league keeper has stepped in and done well.

The thing with keepers is, when you have the gloves if you play well you tend to keep your place if you are technically on a par with the other keeper and not an understudy or back up.. If Motty was fit surely he would have played tonight?

I see Sam was substitute 'keeper on Saturday.  Presumably Jamie Turner was still injured.  Credit to Jamie Day for explaining the goalkeeping issue in the match programme.  Obviously, he was straight-talking with Motty - and players respect that. It is clear that Sam wants regular, first-team, football.

The trouble with keepers is everyone has their 'number one' for the season now, and I can't see many people at our level not having a keeper on a contract, so if they took on Mott they would then inherit the problem we have ... two good keepers and can only play one. Outfield players can be rotated, subbed, moved positions, keepers clearly cannot.

That is true, however clubs might still be keen to take on someone who is better than their current number one, especially if he is slapping crosses into his own net, for example.

I wasn't too happy about that. I would have liked him in the picture regardless of how long he will be at PVR. He was still a current player.

Couldn't agree more Mark, all available signed players should have been in the team/ squad photos
