Erm....last time I looked this was a forum to discuss al things Welling United??

I wish the lad well in the future and he will always have my support when playing in a Welling shirt.

However I see no reason not to be critical of a performance if I think fit (whether it be a 17 year old or an established first team regular) In some ways if anything I was being critical of using him in the first place which is not really down to the player himself.

If we have to sugar coat everything for fear of upsetting anyone then this forum will soon become a very dull place.

Maybe he will come back stronger and work hard on his game. As has been said, he tried his best and thats all you can ask for seeing he was thrown in the deep end. Unfortunately it was his first game that most fans got to see him and it went Pete Tong for him. Nobody is questioning his commitment or him as a person.

Good luck to him.

I too, think that everyone on this forum should be able to express their praise/criticism. Fans should be able to air their true opinions and not be forced to bite their tongue just because it might upset a player. If they have any character at all, they'll rise above it and use it as a source of motivation.

However, lets have a bit less hypocrisy and apply that rule to all forum users, and all players first team or otherwise, from now on.

I was criticised by certain forum users last season for saying that I didn't think 24 year old Theo Fairweather-Johnson was good enough (he's only young, you'll knock his confidence you moron etc) - as he's back at Thamesmead and nobody has kicked up a fuss about him leaving I'll assume my criticism was justified. Let's not just take the opportunity to slate a 17 year old because we know he'll probably never play for us again. If we feel a regular first team member continually performs badly or shows a lack of commitment (rarely the case with Daisy in charge) then we should be entitled to say so without certain hypocritical forum users lambasting us.

PMSL, Its all about you, its all about you baby....

If you cant see the difference between weekly ripping into and naming first teamers or saying a teenager making his debut was poor... then i cannot help you. Its getting boring though.

The difference for you is that this lad will probably disappear, and you won't have to see him in the bar each week after you've slagged him off.

I never "ripped into" Theo. I said he was too lightweight and almost seemed as if he wanted to find a marker so that he couldn't receive the ball. Others I apparently "ripped into" included Harry Baker for being incredibly lazy - since proven right - and Clarkie for not being fit enough (credit to him, he looks a different animal this season, as you'll see from when I praised him after the Cambridge game, but you ignore those bits).

Clarkie was having banter with certain people who he knew had criticised him at the end of season party - thats the way to do it, take it on the chin, grow a pair and rise above it. You were forever telling me not to say things about Theo because the poor sensitive soul couldn't handle it, then you tear into a goalkeeper who is 7 years his junior by saying Daisy would have done a better job in goal. Hypocrite.

Tom, I have a problem with a grand total of ONE forum user. You have a problem with many, perhaps that is telling.

No i have a problem with dickheads slagging off players and the club who go to a game here and there.  If you have a problem with that i cant help you. Just drop me out of the rabid rants.

Deleted? how so , you quote every post to try and perpetuate an argument.

Youve made the right choice not to post in the thread again, another one youve hijacked into a barney.

I've quoted this one just so you can't delete it. Yes, well done, I'm now going back on my word not to comment further...

But when you're going to LIE about what you've written either because you've immediately worried about the fact you might get reprimanded for the personal nature of the comments, or just to rile me into a response, it merely confirms your childishness.

Agreed, we're fans not extremists. We can say things of a negative nature. Doesn't make us less of a fan ... within reason of course.

Obviously, the young lad in goal last night is not a realistic number 2 (in the short term) to Lee Butcher who Jamie has chosen to be his first choice.  So who is lined up for second choice, or is it a matter of cost?  We cannot operate with a much vaunted League goalkeeper and a kid.  False savings.

I would think that we will be keeping Lee Butcher as number 1 and then Jamie Turner as number 2. As harsh that it is to Sam Mott, I don't know if we can support both his and Lee's wages.

An ideal situation would be if we could loan out Sam Mott and get another team to cover hsi wages and then maybe next season he comes back to the club if Lee Butcher is not around. Would Sam be willing to do this though is another thing.

Whatever happens Sam goes down in Welling history as a key part of of the team that won the league last year, and that will never be forgotten.

It seems to be a bit of a ****ty way to treat Sam because it was his misfortune to get injured.

Sorry to go on, so last night it would seem that Jamie Turner would have been used had it not been for an injury in training ( and I think Jamie is a great guy).  So, do we know, was Sam Mott fit to go in goal?  (According to reports he warmed up in training and looked ok).  If he was ok, why was he not used?  Could he have earned us a lucrative tie versus Charlton which would have gone some way towards paying for his wages for a while?

Well, this part of the debate seems to have come to an end.  I appreciate how difficult and awkward the issue is for all parties involved.  It would be great to keep all three senior 'keepers because they are all smashing chaps but, obviously, it would be an option the Wings could not afford.  However, I have decided to do my little bit by putting five quid into the Boost the Budget bucket at each home match I attend (in addition to the fixed monthly sum I donate to BTB).  Not much, I know, but I am sure many other people will put in what they can afford or spare and that will help Jamie - if not to resolve this current issue then, possibly, to get an outfield player on loan later in the season.
