Ironically I wouldn't want them to go down. The 2000+ attendance the home fixture normally generates, brings in an extra £20k in gate receipts at least...

Three wins, three draws, three losses. The epitome of mid table and I'll take that any day.

What a game to watch. I thought in the second half that because they are full time, their fitness would get the better of us. But we matched them in every department and came out worthy winners. A great result - well done boys.

What a great performance, i too could not understand the substitution but now i come to think about it i never saw Hudson warming up. Must say i thought the midfield was superb once they got used to the change. IMO Alex Dyer was just about MOM.

Hudson was named as sub on the team sheet, but JoeBo is named as sub in his place on bbc site. Can only assume Hudson had a problem in the warm up? Hopefully Jamie's post-match interview will clarify.

Great effort from the lads tonight. The midfield was superb with Alex Dyer and Clarkie both putting in excellent shifts (and getting deserved goals). Kurtis and Faz looked a real threat down the right as well. I also thought Jack O's quality from set pieces was excellent and that, combined with a few marauding runs down the left would have swung the MotM verdict in his direction, in my opinion. Nearly every ball he delivered into their box was quality and created panic and chances.

Despite the result, I thought FGR were a good outfit so it really underlines what a super result it was for us.

Onwards and upwards. COYW!

Apart from the one that led to their first goal...

I can't believe nobody's commented on the referee's second half performance: two poor penalty decisions on top of the ridiculous free kick he gave them when the hapless 15 wiped out his own keeper.

Their forum is hilarious.

They would have beaten us 8-2 if it wasnt for the ref
They lost to a side with half of their attendances

That was very funny seeing as they brought about 25 for their cup final.

A tremendous result for the Wings. Jake Gallagher is a natural centre-back as well as a good midfielder. Puzzled by the naming of Blaine Hudson on the bench if he was not fit. Lee Butcher made some fabulous saves.  Make no mistake, FGR  has so many talented players- and when they gel as a team, watch out, they will win this league.  Thankfully, tonight, we did not show them the respect we showed Kidderminster.  Jamie got the tactics spot on.  Another team which targeted Faz at right back with searching passes - when will they realise that Faz, despite his height, can leap like a salmon?  Great goal by Dyer, good performances from all of the players but how much has it taken out of them (Ross hobbling) with another long trip on Saturday?

A couple more points - "crowd" so disappointing (I hope the stay-aways enjoyed watching the Premier Sh*ts).  FGR fans brilliant, FGR officials smashing. You would have thought they would have been BBB with all the cash allegedly at their disposal, but far from it  - no b*llsh*t, just nice folk.

Just read JgFc's  reference to the FGR forum. How disappointing.  They must be Woking supporters in disguise.  Obviously "good" and "grace" are not in their vocabulary.

Just read the FGR forum, Tom, and the comments are not that bad.  They did play some nice football, and so did we.  Obviously they are unhappy, but so would we be with the players they had at their disposal.  It just goes to prove that investing in 11 or so good players does not always reap dividends - unless they play as a team.  And, as I said earlier, when FGR play as a team - watch out.

The first Team sheet which was produced by me had Blaine on it , this was an error and should have been Joboe
Simple explanation and Blaine was never on the bench , human error !!

I'm shocked that so many others were shocked at the low attendance.

We only really have a hard-core of around 500-600 supporters so to get 450 considering Forest Green brought about 20, Champions League on the TV and the dreadful weather  is not too bad.

Well actually considering how good out team is it is shocking, but , as the club has only just started advertising matches for the first time in 20 years- what do you expect?

Onwards and upwards, a great result for the lads. Now lets hope for 3 points on Saturday and our first back to back wins!

COYW!

I thought Guthrie was superb last night and deserved, and agreed with, the Man of the Match award. But, as others have said, plenty of candidates and a nice problem to have. Delighted also for Alex Dyer who took his goal quite superbly, ghosting past the Forest Green defence.

A fine result which will surely herald our prescence in the league and wake some other clubs up (if we hadn't already).

Off to Hyde then, albeit with a worrying-looking injury to Doug and a wearily substituted Ross.

A number of players were excellent. Kurtis and Butcher stand outs for me.

The midfield dominated and gave us the ball. Again, Franks commanding and I agree with an earlier poster that Jake looks comfortable at Centre half.

The crowd was poor but has been the same for as long as I remember, the slightest touch of rain and people stay away.....

Keep the team fit and healthy is key....

I thought we were outstanding past night. The ability to come back the way we did after letting a two goal lead slip. Dyer for me was the stand out player, MotM worthy. He was excellent and kept going for every ball through the whole game. Butcher put in a brilliant performance also. Pulling off brilliant saves in both first and second half. Especially when they had about 4 shots In the space of about 20 seconds. Referee changed the game a bit after both penalties. They red card defiantly proved to be the game changer. Doesn't matter. one of those days for us where everything that could go right, DID!
Hyde and Aldershot should be prepared for a massive challenge. This could be the season maker. Brilliant win! COYW!

A fantastic performance last night. No-one had a bad game but Dyer got man of the match for me. Closely followed by Fraser.

Our penalty was never a penalty, thought the defender made a superb tackle but I suppose at times you need a bit of luck. Onto Hyde on Saturday, although they are in the bottom 4 they will be desperate for a win so won't be a walkover.

Superb stuff lads, keep it going.

Game really hinged on the second penalty which was dubious to say the least. I think the ref was looking to even it up after a soft penalty at the other end - once he had given it he had to send their lad off as well. Nice to see us kick on and use the extra man effectively as well. Lots of candidates for man of the match but Gallagher (playing out of position) and Faz were the stand out candidates for me. Great to see Dyer get off the mark as well with a class goal. I also agree with the plaudits for Butcher - haven't been convinced thus far but some crucial saves last night and good handling in tricky conditions. I don't think Forest Green will be far away at the end of the season provided they defend better than they did last night.

Main concern for me now is injuries. Another one off last night and we are looking desperately short of cover in all areas at the moment. As far as I could see none of our bench last night actually did any warming up which suggests they are far from 100% fit themselves. We keep hearing they will be back "in a few days" or "next week" but next week never seems to arrive....

Might have been dubious but if you go to ground or fly in like that then you risk giving a penalty away. Cant really see on the video and Ross is in the way but it looks like he got the ball. That only equalled out another amazing decision when he gave a penalty when the ball appears to hit Obo's shoulder blade as he jumped and twisted in the air to try and block a cross. I have absolutely no idea how you can think that could possibly be a penalty.

Most of the refs this season have been decent but i havent been impressed with last two and weve got a draw and a big win so its not sour grapes. The linos in this league seem scared to give a decision though before the ref blows up.

I can't be bothered writing an essay, but to summarise;

Who cares what Forest Green forum says. Most of those writing on there probably weren't at the game and 'big' clubs with money will always moan when a smaller club and budget turn them over. Rose-tinted glasses in the extreme. They say about the ref being poor, weren't claiming that when they equalised via their penalty I am sure.

Great result, and far too many contenders for MOTM which is a nice problem to have.

Hyde, lets not assume. We must turn up and play like we have in recent weeks. It is NOT a formality. Yes they are bottom with no wins, but look at their opponents. They've played everyone up the top.

COYWs.

My thoughts as well. Although our attendance was still the second lowest attendance in the league last night. I think over time this will improve though.

Agreed, it won't change overnight. Like the QE2, it takes a while to turn. Keep doing good things regularly and over time it will improve.

They brought sixteen on the supporters coach. Every other team have brought 100 plus and Cambridge brought 400-500 minimum midweek.

There should have been two penalties last night - but not the ones he gave.

He missed an early handball in the box by their centre forward and a shove on Guthrie second half. Their pen look soft, ours never was! Glad to see the assistant referees not assisting last night with anything and the ref keeping up the old tradition of not giving penalties early in a game. He did seem to enjoy being 'sweet talked' by their bench as well.

Great performance by us though. I thought Guthrie earned his man of the match and Dyer looked really good (back to what I saw at Wrexham).

Their manager via BBC ...

"It wasn't a bad day at the office. I can't ask any more from my players.
"We've dominated and had loads of chances but their keeper has been outstanding.
"It's the third penalty against us on the trot and I have to question it.
"I don't think it was a penalty and it certainly wasn't a red card. It just killed us."

You can ask for more, and you should. From them and yourself.
You did not dominate, Welling were two up long before the red card (which was a very poor call agreed).
Yes, question why. Stop committing fouls in the box is the answer you require.

Let's not forget you were two down before the red card, it's not like we only got five because of that.

Oh, and with the budget you have, and the wages they are no doubt on, good luck moving the keeper and your number 15 on. They were both awful.

Dominated? One look at the possession stats suggests that was far from the case...

And that is with a club subsidy. I beleieve that for £25 a month, FGR supporters can get travel to every away game with no further cost.

Scored as well.

Subbed on, scored, subbed off. Hilarious. Full-time, massive budget, one red card and chaos. Poor management/team selection.

Maybe he was reading from the wrong clipboard. They seemed too have about four managers on the touchline at times, and i'm pretty sure you are only aloud two people standing up in technical area.  As for our penalty, it was a fantastic tackle and very harsh on them. But we won and played superb!

Sadly missed this game due to work. What I am happy to see after reading reports and comments is how well we adapted to changes in line up and took the game to good opposition and finished strong. Its all about attitude.

The team has set a bench mark for making PVR a fortress, lets keep our home form on track and look for the bonus of away points.

Without getting carried away, I am more optimistic of seeing Welling compete well in this league. Are we seeing a better more entertaining game? Yes we are. Well done lads, keep it going.
