On Twitter "what are you plans to support WUFC in terms of winning promotion to the Conference National and their 50th Year?" She replied "what do you suggest?"
Without wanting to raise a red rag to a bull Ive asked what they've did when their premiership team in the borough got promotion?
I await a reply - your suggestions on a postcard or maybe on here-hey we have dialogue? (without wishing to step on WUSA toes)
Jeepers mate - you have unearthed a multitude of of sins.
50th anny went by the board as the club couldn't give a rodents rectum Let me know when the Hobbins want to help club to succeed and not just for his financial rewards.
Why has it gone by the board....I for one am looking forward to the proposed 50th Anniversary Dinner....If I still played I would be at the Golf Day
It think you be stirring it up a tad!!!
With all due respect Mark, I wasn't a Welling supporter years ago when they played Premiership ( 1st division ) teams and had glory days. If the club could have bothered organizing a top team down for a friendly from that era last year, maybe we could have benefited from a decent turn out and let the local population know about the event. Paul, Eric and co have achieved miracles promoting the club within a difficult financial environment and they are to be lauded. However, a 50th anniversary dinner or golf will not stimulate the locals to watch a game. Don't get me wrong here, an anniversary dinner is a great idea, but, within the realms of financial restraint at the club, what else could be done?
How about these of the top of my head and if these are in place, please excuse me :
Banners in the ground stating our anniversary
Tannoy Man stating that it's our anniversary
The 50th person to go through the gate would get in free
The 50th Charlton season ticket holder to go through the gate would get in free
The 50th person to buy and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate would get a season ticket
The first person that could prove that they were born in 1963 would get in free
The list is not exhaustive and I dare say that others will come up with better alternatives and I appreciate that some of the above might be difficult to implement, but, we need to get the message across, something that the club, IMHO, has failed to do
I have a reply to say that the Mayor couldn't make the last meeting but looks forward to the next-they are in regular contact with the club.
Cynical- I am going to make a suggestion, lets see what happens I didn't get an answer to my question
Mark-Are the Council sponsoring the dinner? If not what have they done so far?
BKK, I would love to know your suggestion, but maybe not on an open forum. Of course the Council are in regular contact with the club, allegedly, they want their money back.
The Mayors role in local government is largely ceremonial and a chance to raise significant money for charity, it is for the club to invite him, not ask for ideas.

Cynical- its not controversial or anything. I have merely suggested that with segregation putting one set of supporters at a disadvantage with wet weather why don't the council sponsor a covering for the road or park end. They could have their name on it and get some good press

You have more chance than Radio Kent saying that we are actually in Kent the same as Charlton, Bromley and Dartford

The first person who can prove their surname is Welling and was born in 1963 should get a season ticket for life ..........
