It's been a fair few years since, but there were two seasons when we were previously in this league when I went to every match. This included Tuesday night trips to Gateshead, Cheltenham, Yeovil, etc. I suspect we'll have a similar issue with postponements / long midweek trips this season.
Its looking like 3 of the long schleps could be on Tuesdays this season and thats just through Cup games needing league games changed. I am sure a few people are saving back holidays for Grimsby, Lincoln and Gateshead on Tuesdays.

Was that the one where there were about 4 of you scrambling around for options to get back from Witton at the start of the game?

one on one with the keeper...
and....
and....
wait for it...
actually bloody scored!
Stafford - yes, four of us with no way of getting home from Witton that night! We knew the last train was well before the match was due to end, but we just hoped we could either cadge a lift on the team coach (no room) or that someone else happened to be driving back down south.
In the end we had to resort to plan C: a taxi to Manchester, then an overnight coach from Manchester to Victoria, before hopping on a train back to Welling. As I recall, a drunk man tried to fight the coach driver when we stopped at some services en route, which delayed us getting back. I think I eventually got home at around 07:00, before showering, changing and going to work; to cap it all I was actually starting a new job that morning, so I really don't know what I would have done had we not been able to get that coach.
I would never, ever do anything like that these days - the folly of youth. At the time, though, it was brilliant!
