Nothing wrong with the ref...although the penalty was softish. 4th official was total plonker...out of his depth on the touchline! What a lack of class by Edgar Davids...walked past Jamie Day at the end, no recognition, no handshake. Another vital point. Think they would have won fairly comfortably with 11 men, but a dirty team. Their 7 was man of the match by a country mile. This league is more like a giant leap than a step up. As for organisation...no tickets for the stand transfer...thought lessons would have been learned?
Have to disagree re: the penalty, nailed on for me.
Faz must have thought his legs were a bit longer than they are! Didn't get anywhere near the ball. He looked to make amends straight away though and caused them real problems going forward in the last 20 minutes - an absolute joke that the full time whistle was blown whilst he was about to hammer in a cross 7 or 8 yards from the goal.
Their 7 was a real danger. Mr Davids was appalling. They're not conning anyone if they claim to play passing football. Yes, the keeper passes it out to the centre backs but from there its just thumped forward.
Hope Roscoe is back soon. Cargill did very well. At the time we conceded the goal we seemed to be playing a 4-6-0 formation with Loick out left and Kurtis out wide. Despite that we weren't pressuring them enough in midfield.
2 points dropped, goal coming after a spell of 10 mins where we put no pressure on them at all. Shouldn't take us conceding a goal to then look like we want to win it and was unfortunate not to after some very good chances. Cargill looked good, though the set pieces from dyer were just that in 1st half. Hope roscoe is ok but he seemed to be really struggling, failing that how long of pugh's loan is left at the train station?
Couldn't believe the ref blew for full-time as we had a decent cross into the box filled with our players.
Why? It's proper football played over 90 minutes not jumpers for goalposts and next goal wins.
Lol! True but normally a ref will wait for a clearance or for the ball to go out of play. Not when the ball has just been crossed in and is a yard from the goal mouth with a dozen players trying to take a swing at it.

She blew didn't allow any additional time for the time wasting in stoppage time although I do agree that just because we were in a good position, she shouldn't add on time.
Referees do normally blow up when nothing is happening as they say they cannot be 100% accurate with time keeping as none ever stop the clock for every stoppage. You'd have 25 additional minutes every half.
I also can't believe the attendance of just 1017. We had the main stand and PVR end filled, with a few fans behind the danson park end. Barnet had the cricket side the new stand more or less filled. If that was just 1017 then we need to correct our capacity of 5000, because there's no way we would have fitted another 1000 fans in the ground let alone 4000...

They were a bit spread out in the new stand and I doubt if it were a third full. Quite a bit of room behind both goals too.
looked to me about 350 Barnet fans, 400 in the old stand, 100 at the side and a good 300/400 behind the goals. Working out on my Welling United calculator...................yep, exactly 1017.
An entertaining game where Barnet were probably the better side 11 v 11. Their number seven was a class act and looked like he should be playing at a higher level.
Plenty of positives for us as well - Faz had a good game (penalty aside) and the whole back four played well. We seem to take it that Fraser and Jack will play well and the former may well be our most consistent player for me so fae over the season. I would have given motm to Cargill on his first appearance - did not look out of place and had a solid game throughout. Our midfield didn't pass the ball as well as they usually do but kept going and pressing and looking for the winner.
On the negative side I just hope the injury to Ross isn't serious....time and again we got behind them but there was nobody going in where it hurts in the six yard box. Not only does he score goals but he works the defenders really hard and creates opportunities for others with his sheer effort and determination. Sadly Pires (at the moment) is not doing any of these things. He is a shadow of the player he was with us two years ago and he needs to up his game.

Considering some of the officials we have had to put up with in the past I thought the ref did a pretty good job. However if you care to look at the Barnet forum she was our 12th person.
1. Rosco - really missed him when he went off and just showed how much work and goals he gives us. Hope Pires can get back to the form he showed when he was last with us. He may now get a run in the side depending how bad Roscos injury is
2. Davids - real lack of class and he needs to hang em up. His assistant was shouting instructions in Dutch throughout the game - unbelievable. !!
3. Ref - actually the best I have seen for a while but agree should have blown up when the ball is away from any dangerous area
4. Correct crowd - some of us who have been coming for years would have had a smile at that official attendance figure !!
5. JGFC - Tom get ourself back on the forum. Although controversial at times it does provide for lively debates although I do appreciate a couple have got out of hand. No blame here to anyone.
6. Great start to the season and really looking forward to the next month with games again Halifax and the FA Cup
