Yes and this is the time we want to be missing Luton away or Cambridge away etc....ONE round away from the 1st round proper and we could do witha winnable game at home
Why is the Cup match at Brislington on Saturday week "subject to confirmation" according to our official site? Do they share with another team, so will have to play Sunday?

Could be policing, depending on what else is going on in Bristol that Saturday and who City or Rovers are playing. I guess even when a match is a formality, like this game most probably is, things still need to be signed and sealed.

City away to Carlisle Rovers at home to Chesterfield. Brislington FC site says Saturday but as you say everything needs to be signed and sealed.
Apart from the enjoyment we would get from a good cup run, the income raised could be very important over the long term. This is definitely not a game to be taken lightly.

Absolutely, 12.5k is not to be sneezed at. Plus a great opportunity for big attendances home or away to league opposition in the next round(s).
A playoff spot may be a little ambitious (although certainly not impossible), and without counting chickens we're definitely not looking like relegation fodder. With that in mind, we may as well give the cup a damn good go.
Totally agree. Without trying to look past that game but IF we got through to the 3rd round against a big team then the money generated could set the club up long term and clear any remaining debts. There's a very long way to go before that though and we have to approach Brislington with the same respect we would a Luton Town or Cambridge.

Even if the team managed to achieve the absolute miracle of finishing in the top five, with a lot of work to be done to bring the ground even up to Conference Premier standard, it surely is a very long way from Football League acceptability. I imagine therefore that we would not be permitted to play in the play-offs.
With a third of the season gone we are already almost halfway to achieving the points total required for league safety so, while not counting chickens, to me this is the season when the FA Cup and FA Trophy games are of the highest importance. There is a lot of money to be earned in these two competitions and this is our best chance for many years to have runs in both.
I am as surprised and happy as most about our start in the league but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.....
Target number one is staying in this division and points wise we are probably almost half way towards what may be required and the sooner we get there the better!
Target number two (realistically) is to beat Brislington and cop a Wolves, Pompey, Sheff Utd, Brentford etc...in the first round. Chances of favourable draws to the third round are very slim and I would take 12k for winning the next round and a few bob from the telly in the first round proper - win, lose or draw.
The below is from the FA website.........Woking must be seething
The two Step 5 clubs definitely through enjoyed mixed fortunes in the draw. Brislington, eighth in the Western Leagues Premier Division, entertain one of the Conference Premiers big guns, Welling United, while Marske United, fifth and undefeated in the Northern Leagues Division One, must travel to Southport.

Brislingtons largest ever attendance is 449 so that must be at risk..........not aware of any other grounds where the visit of the Wings represents their largest attendance
Wolves at home in the first round would be nice if we beat Brislington. Sell-out crowd, guaranteed ITV1 coverage on the Sunday lunchtime, would be a real money spinner.

You'd hope you would take 100 minimum, and with the extra coverage they are getting from going further than they ever have then yes, 449 should be beaten.
It is absolutely essential that the Wings treat Brislington with the respect they deserve - they have already dumped, by my reckoning, four teams out of the Cup including Truro City at home and Weston Super Mare away (and we know how hard it is to beat Weston away in recent seasons). So they are no mugs and our team needs to approach the game with the right attitude. We also need to field as strong a team as possible, or one which Jamie considers as the right blend tactically to match Brislington because the strongest team is not aways horses for courses. Meanwhile, we have a very difficult match at Halifax.
Just watched ITV south west television video of Brislington's match away to Barnstaple in an earlier round of the Cup - their two strikers Gringell and Plummer look like they will pose a few problems. Gringell is their top scorer and the top scorer in the Western league last season. Great goal by Plummer a former Bristol (Rovers or City?) youth player.
Is Keynsham the nearest station to Brislington's ground?
Keynsham is 2.56 miles, Parson st is 2.39 miles but Keysham looks the most conveient for getting to the gound.
Most important is locating a pub to prepare vocal cords.
Shall we travel as a tribe. Talk soon re details.
Go to Bristol Temple Meads or Bath. 338/339 from bottom of ramp at Temple Meads or Bus Station at Bath pass the ground (X39 passes it as well, quickly, as I don't think it stops!)
I find it hard to believe there are no decent beer joints in the whole of Bristol or Bath.
Also, I think it likely there is parking somewhere within walking distance, its a small football ground not a nuclear reactor!
This is all well and good but I wouldn't want all this talk about the FA Cup will prove to be a distraction from an extremely tough game at Halifax on Saturday. As Wingnut suggested earlier, there are still a lot of points that need to be won before we are safe.

Did you leave your irony detector in your old office...
The Bristol east Park and Ride is across the road.
