Exactly what we needed! What a boost for the team, and the fans! 3points against a team who are really performing this season. Praises from Essex commentators can only mean a quality performances! COYW!
Great result lads. Well done to everyone involved. Well deserved by the sound of the BBC Essex commentary. Getting all the points there doesn`t come easy. Superb!
Daisy got man of the match just ahead of Fraser. Kurtis ran his nuts off again and put some good balls in. Ref was very very poor and let them kick the ball away in the first half and then again in the second. Then books ours at will and booked Jamie for walking away from a free kick .
Highlights up over next couple of days on WingsTV and interviews with Jamie Day and Fraser Franks should be up tomorrow.
What a great effort from the lads. Back four were fantastic and everyone else put in a real shift. Great to see Clarke getting up to support the attack and getting the 2nd before a great step over for the 3rd. Kurtis also put in an excellent shift and provided the outlet on numerous occasions, always supported by Faz (how fit is he - never stops running!) Daisy was also a top performer and just kept things moving and what a great free kick.
Was 'lucky' enough to hear Alan Devonshire being interviewed on BBC Essex in the car on the way home. Apparently we came to break up the game and the referee let us get away with it as we were always falling to the ground and getting the decisions??? He then said he had warned the team about Daisy's free kicks, mentioning his great effort just before the goal. His next sentence was along the lines of his keeper not having to make 1 save all match. I wish the interviewer had asked him who kept out Daisy's first free kick that he had just mentioned. Deluded! Oh well, great result and off to bed happy! COYW!
Braintree have played the same style under a succession of managers. One might come to the conclusion it's a pre-requisite for the job.
Devonshire's Hampton team were possibly uglier to watch. I also recall him going nuts earlier this season when Forest Green (?) rolled into bandit country making similar pre-match comments about his team's style. Hypocrite.

Was amusing to hear the local chavs as we left the ground taking the pi55 when we had just beaten them. Were very quiet behind the goal once we went in front and disappeared back to the "correct" end sharpish.
Not sure how they can mock us when they have lost. They were proudly boasting "we're third in the league" .. got two quick replies "no you aren't, you're now fifth" and a sarcastic "should really be beating us at home then shouldn't you". Cue silence.
Great performance lads with a scratch side ... who knows what we can achieve when some more bodies are back.
Fraser Franks, outstanding again. Four different CB partners this season. You'd never know it. Faultless.
COYWs.

I thought Devonshire came through the 'Academy of Football', was that the John Beck Academy? Braintree have a huge pitch, great surface yet play Cambridge football from the 90's, all that was missing was Dion Dublin and John Taylor up front....not sure I'd want to watch that football week in, week out...
Thought Obersteller had his best defensive game of the season, Franks and Cargill very strong at the end also. Cargill for 17 is a superb piece of work by Jamie.
Great support there, 3 great goals and a top result.
That's just manager speak from Devonshire - we wuz robbed, the ref helped them (the card count says otherwise) but to say that we broke up their style of play........lol. Their "style" as he calls it is designed for stop start football and set piece football and we were drawn into it first half. He even told one of his lads off for trying to take a quick free kick! When we could play second half we scored two excellent goals to go with the great free kick in the first half.
It was never going to be a pretty game but we had to match them physically and take our chances when we could and we did just that. When you consider there was no Lafayette, Gallagher, Beautyman, Bergqvist or Hudson available last night that was some result. All the lads worked very hard but special mention for me for Baily Cargill - two games and the lad has not put a foot wrong.
Clarkie has amazed me this season...I dont think I was the only one to think he would be a bit part player this year and that maybe this was a season too far BUT HASN'T HE PROVED ME WRONG!!! - Probably getting better and bossing games...he is also helping the youngsters so much
Long may it continue Clarkie - Still knows where the goal is too
Great result overshadowed by a clueless ref and the linos. They wouldn't even give a throw in before checking with the ref. Half the time decisions were a lucky dip, other times just ridiculous.
Thought we struggled to hold the ball up at the front and it kept getting hoofed straight back into our area. Fair play to our defence though and midfield who had to play deep. Great to see Jamie hit the set pieces. Pires seemed livelier as well.
Braintree reminded me of how we use to hit it long and wide to Robbins in the old Conference days. Glad we've progressed from that era.
As an example of how clueless the officials were last night - Loick was flagged offside from a goal kick by the assistant on the dug out side. The referee noticeably changed his decision conveniently to a throw in after hearing the correction from the Welling supporters.
The free kick that led to Jamies equaliser was definately a penalty according to the Braintree fans standing next to me and even said justice has been done when Jamie scored. Dugout side "assistant referee" was probably the worst I have ever seen, he only made one decision all night and that was wrongly flagging for offside from a goal kick. As for the referee booking Lee Butcher for holding onto the ball after Braintrees second goal but totally ignoring the two Braintree players manhandling Butcher.

Totally agree MarkX, I also thought we had seen the best he could offer, BUT... he has shown us he can up his game and looks fitter, he plays a good captains role and sets the right example,he always gives 110% and acknowledges the supporters. And dont we all love it when he scores. You just cant buy his playing experience.
