He was more complimentary earlier, admitting that we were dominating possession and that Whalley was no match for Loui....but after the equalizer he definitely turned more Luton's way.
It sounds like Luton got the winner because Faz was injured and we were down to ten men. I hope he is not badly injured. Also, will Fraser now miss the Plymouth match?
Listening to the commentary, it sounded very much like Luton were hoofing it. Is that the case? I hope we have some squad players available for the Plymouth match, if needed. That's if they are not already Cup-tied.
A loss is a loss. 2-1 at Kenilworth Road before the season wouldn't have been bad at all.....so I'll take it now. But there are some major negatives. When you get the amount of chances as we did in the first 15minutes of the second half...you HAVE to take them! Especially at Luton! But we also proved what we can do in front of crowds, which gives me more confidence going into the Plymouth game. After a good quality display, I feel that we were unlucky not to get at least a point, which shows how far we have come this season. I am annoyed about one particular thing.....KHM. I don't think he has the attitude right now. He had around 15 minutes on the pitch. Made and got involved in some good chances, the best a penalty claim which I am still adamant was a penalty. But, the fact that he had to be PULLED and Pushed by Frosty to come over to the supporters unsettles me a lot.....onwards and upwards. COYW!
We had a few good chances that we didn't convert, but I'm not going to complain too much. The first 20 minutes weren't our best but after that we played some good football. Standout performers for me were Faz, Franks, Gallagher (when in midfield) and Dyer. Also thought Kurtis put in a great shift as usual - they doubled up on him a lot which made things difficult.
Roscoe worked hard as always but was very isolated again. You don't always realise the width Obersteller gives the side until he's missing. We really didn't pose any sort of attacking threat down the left side, we know Juan Joe isn't going to beat players for pace and I think the defenders sussed that out too. They would show him inside and when the ball switched to the other wing, they could shunt across and double up on Kurtis. Alex Dyer made a couple of very good runs forward, he looks like our best ball-carrier at the moment. Maybe Dyer on the right, Kurtis on the left, with 3 from Clarke/Gallagher/Healy/Beautyman in the centre could work? Kurtis would naturally cut inside and maybe provide a bit more support for Roscoe.
Overall it was a pretty good performance. Games away to Luton aren't going to determine our success this season. Interesting that there are a couple of comments on their forums that we are a decent passing side - as we've always known. Funny that some other sides don't see it that way (always after we've beaten them though, how strange).
Playing in front of 6500 people will benefit a lot of our players. It will be a similar crowd and atmosphere at Plymouth.
That was 9-12months ago. I'd rather players were judged on the last 20 league games than those of last season in a lower league.
That said, I don't think there are any negatives from today, just poor luck and poor finishing with limited chances. Everyone did their bit and played well. Despite the disappointment, they should all feel confident we deserve to be in this league, and should be looking up not down.
Thought we were pretty good most of the second half. Had Luton on the back foot for 30 mins and were well worth a point. Playing against a team/squad like Luton with over 6,500 and being disappointed with not getting a point speaks bundles. Before the season started, and even today, I thought we would get a bit of a hiding.
As for fans comments on here - positive, negative or whatever, I believe it should be an open forum. I just choose not to single out any individuals for poor performances as I don't want to knock anyone's confidence. To me it can affect the player (and maybe the team long term) and any I'm pretty sure players read stuff on here. But if any other fan wants knock players, fair play, it's your right but does it do any good?
A little disappointed with losing today, if we had converted just one of the chances we created immediately after the break we could have come away with at least a point. We are more than blessed with good players in all Depts. but we saw today the difference an out and out proven goalscorer can make (two real chances, two goals). They are of course at a premium but IMO it is the one area which we are lacking. Notwithstanding this, if we continue to perform in this vein we will be alright. I was a little unsighted in respect of Fraser's sending off. I cannot remember whether he was booked prior to extra time (I do not think he was), did he receive a second yellow card or was it a straight red. I really hope he will only be missing for the one game. Faz's injury did not look a long term one but, with our luck....

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
BBC Sport have given Franks' red card as "dissent"? God knows where they got that from...as far as I'm aware, he is only missing the FA Trophy tie against Braintree if I'm right? .....
He was sent off for a 'professional foul'. It was a straight red and I believe Peter is right in saying that he will be suspended for the London Senior Cup match against Cray Valley Paper Mills so should be available for Braintree next week.
The general thread on here seems to be if our finishing had been better we would have got a point or won. This seems to be decidedly selective in the memory department. If Benson had had a left foot more useful than an an ornament we could easily have been 3-0 or 4-1 down at half time and looking at a real hard afternoon.
As it was, we took our chance, when it was offered, well (albeit at the second attempt) and made a good game of it. Depending on where you were stood, the merit of the penalty. Two of us thought it was generous, those on the other side of the stand thought it was stonewall. Annoying that the organisation went for 30 seconds when Loui went off but there you go, it happens.
Where I think we still haven't quite got to the speed of this division is the number of times we wait for the ball to arrive and it gets picked off. The better quality players other teams have are a bit faster in speed and thought in that aspect of the game.
Many other teams will go there and suffer a similar fate or worse as it is probably one of the top three tests we will get this season.
Luton assistant said we were probably the better team and can feel aggrieved not to have got something out of the game on the BBC website. Generous of him to say so, easier having won I guess.
Franks said on twitter that he read all about red card for abusing ref and it's total crap. Last man denying goalscoring opportunity was the reason for sending off
