Good to see Daisy resting players I feel. FA Trophy not important at all this season.
Agreed. With the FA Cup and the great league performance this competition is not a priority for now, although would love to still win the game of course.
It's good to rest players, which highlights the need for another striker for me given Ross is playing. We don't have another option to replace/cover for him. I know they don't grow on trees, but we are very reliant on him. If there was someone out there that could play up front, effectively on their own at times, we should be getting them in.
Piss poor performance, only Blaine Hudson comes out of this with pass marks, the rest of the team looked like they weren't interested and were just going through the motions. I paid good money to follow the Wings and expect them to at least look as if they care. It was obvious from the starting 11 that the management couldn't care less about this competition and the fact that even when we were being totally outplayed the only change made was withdrawing Ekim and replacing him with Hughes-Mason. As for the 2 new loan signings of Bassele and Vanderhyde, they didn't inspire any confidence in me. I just hope that next Saturday the players who rested today can do the job against Plymouth.

I understand everyones frustration at this result.....it is a game we (this year) could have done without but on the positive side...it did get a game for the new guys who now will have a weeks training with the team and be ready to go next week.....Faz being out for 5 weeks isn't ging to help at all...also not having Grimsbey this week is a BIG plus!!!....onwards

Exactly why I chose to miss it since the draw it was obvious we would field a scratch XI. Rightly too.
Unfortunately for me my work dictates which matches I can attend, I try to get to every match I can even if it's only for the second half of some matches. I was due to miss this one but my bosses changed my shift. Wish they hadn't bothered. Work again next Saturday means I'll miss the Plymouth cup tie.

There is money at stake in this competition - money that we can il afford to turn our nose up at.
We played a very alien 3-5-2 formation (I think) We played Hudson and Clarke (both of whom were on four yellow cards and, if booked, after the Grimsby game ended in a draw they would have missed the Plymouth game....) Surely if there was any "resting" going on then they should have been two of the prime candidates?!
The two young lads Corne and Ekim both showed up well in patches and the loanees got ninety minutes under their belt - other than that there was nothing positive gained at all.
I realise that a good result at Plymouth and it will all be forgotten but still think we got it wrong.
I realise that we have a smallish squad with a bit of a hole knocked in it due to injuries however, in the last twenty years, this club has never been in the fortunate position to turn down revenue on the pitch, given how much we seem determined to turn down off it.
I have to say that I do enough other things on my day out that it was merely a somewhat aggravating 90 minutes in which all I learnt is that Lee Butcher had better damn well not get injured or suspended.
As a general point though, are we good enough to pick and choose our games? Also, if you don't respect the competitions, you cannot complain if others don't later on when it may more severly impact on us. It is less obvious now the Trophy final is in February but we, of all clubs, given one of the contributions to our previous final day demise, should be aware of that (Kettering goalkeepers springs to mind...)
