Yes and the patronising Dartford fans are saying we probably wouldnt have one as we cant afford one!!!!....well if they have so much money you would think....
A) they would be in the top 5
B) their pitch would be pristine
C) they could sign some decent players
It is amazing that you dont get any abuse from the ex league sides when they play us even if they are beaten
Website says check throughout the morning on prospects of play. Doesn't sound hopeful. If it's not pouring in Welling yet it soon will be as it's moving west to east.
Just started hammering down as well, hopefully IF it does get called off we can arrange it for Saturday 11th January.
With the weather the way it is probably the better option if it's possible. I can't imagine getting soaked on the terraces at Welling will be many peoples idea of a good New Years Day.
If it goes ahead I would not be confident about getting a good gate in these very wet and windy conditions. Saturday 11th would be a good option if Dartford play ball. It also could be a better incentive for their supporters to come to PVR if they have done some transfer business and got players back from injury. It gives us a chance to field a stronger team too. Also, if the game does take place I would not give much for the prospects of a match on Saturday if the pitch is badly churned up.
Unbelievable that Barrie got the all clear, well done. However the bad weather has hit eastbourne in the last hour and is very very very very grim. NYD celebrations in town cancelled. If its like this at Welling surly it won't survive. Well done to all the staff to getting it to a stage of still being an option. Passion for the game!
Weather forecast for Bexleyheath area - light rain with heavier rain predicted for between 13;00 - `18;00 followed by light rain. so suggest keep checking throughout the morning.
I am sure that the majority of Dartford fans are pleasant and reasonable, but you would not get too much of that impression from looking at some of the current postings on their message board. Piggy has done so well to get the pitch in a good enough state to pass an inspection. Yes, the forecast is not looking good but the game can only be called off by a referee - and I am sure the club would not wish to fork out for match officials to turn up and immediately call the game off. It is frustrating not knowing and trying to make a decision about whether or not to travel (in my case from east Kent) but there is sod all we can do about it.
I really hope Dartford stay up i enjoyed my trip over there on boxing day and love the rivalry and so close to get to for me one bus str8 there :)
I like so many am keeping an eye on updates as my son wants to go see welling for the 1st time today :)
