New poster here - I've just moved in London and realised I'm now very close to Welling's ground. I'm a CPFC season ticket holder but miss going to see 'real' football on the terraces. Me and a few mates are going to go the game on Friday night (and start going to more matches when the fixtures don't clash with CPFC) and I was wondering having never been to the ground before, where is the best part to stand for atmosphere/whatnot. Also is the bar any good at the ground? I read somewhere it's happy hour before matches? Worthwhile?
Assuming it won't be segregated, best place to stand for atmosphere probably behind the goal we're attacking (can switch at half time). Obviously if it's raining this might not be the case!
I haven't heard anything about a happy hour on Friday, there usually is one though. I'm not the best person to ask as generally turn up just before matches start, I'm sure someone else will reply who knows more than me.
Always good to see new fans come, hopefully it's an enjoyable one (check on here and @wellingunited on Twitter for any news on possible pitch inspections on the day)
So then my last question is; pubs near the ground? My mates and I will be heading there straight from work, any decent pre-game boozers besides the one in the ground? Or is that probably our best bet?
The Nags Head - 200 yards or so from the ground, is where a lot of us tend to dwell pre-match. A few also go in The Guy Earl of Warwick right next door.
If you like real ale try the DOOR HINGE which is about 100 yards down from Nags Head (heading towards ground). It only sells real ale staight from the barrell no lager
dont be expecting it to be as noisy as CPFC there fans are gr8 when i have seen them on tv you lot never shut up (amazing atmosphere) ^_^ bit of a come down to go to welling lol but welcome and lets hope we see a win ^_^ cmon you wingssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
