I noticed the team came out to "London Calling" on Saturday and whilst its easy to say that it was merely coincidental was it in fact the club weighing into the whole London / Kent argument? If so was it a definitive statement that Welling is a London club? In any event I thought it was an excellent tune for the team to come out to and its rousing impact was clearly evidenced by the fine 3-0 victory over that loathsome other club. So I wonder whether we could adopt it as a permanent tune for the teams to come out to. If necessary the lyrics could be changed "London Calling, though actually Kent" maybe followed by "if no one wants him we could sign Darren Bent" which would also advertise our desire for another striker.
Andrew
I took it on board to make that the run out tune
As it had the desired effect we shall keep it for
The remainder of the season
I was merely looking back over old threads
Regarding this and thought it best to go with it
Glad it went down well
Well done PW it's a very good 'entrance' tune for the team. Any chance of some music when Welling score? Perhaps The 'Darts Song? (Chase the Sun by KaZantip)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh When the Wingssssss
I thought the CD had just been playing and that happened to be the song that was on when they came out hence it starting half way through when they went off at the break. I did think it was an odd song for a Kent based club and that there are other Clash songs that I would have picked rather than that one.
Our run out song has/should always and forever be Aint No Stoppin' Us Now by McFadden & Whitehead. We can play it loudly on the new tannoy as well . Nothing wrong with London Calling being played just before Aint No Stoppin Us Now though
Very happy with Ain't No Stopping Us Now as our run out song but if we're changing I would suggest Jeffrey Osborne's On The Wings Of Love. As far as I'm concerned London ends just this side of Shooters Hill and Welling is in Kent so please leave London's Calling to Chelsea or Fulham or West Ham etc, etc.

What he said and then some!
How about an on pitch announcer before the game and at half time just to ramp up the cringeometer a bit more.
When Im at Fulham they play London Calling due to the "Down By The River" part in the song. To me this makes sense.
I'd have WingsTV idea of "Aint No Stopping Us" if had to choose between the two.
but as another suggestion relating to the area PARKLIFE - Blur, (Danson Park or Park View Road) fade it in to just using the chorus bit which lasts long enough for the players to come out.
"All the people So many people They all go hand in hand Hand in hand through their parklife"
Just an Idea..!!

It took me weeks to get round the Dean Wilson Family Funeral Directors thing, so music after goals could be a step too far.
I like London Calling as it's very rousing and always takes me back to coach journeys through London, pre M25, to Marlow, Burnham and the like when I first started going to away matches.
Taking this further perhaps after a defeat we could play 'Broken Wings' by Mister Mister and after a win 'Wings of a Dove' by Madness to get everyone going.
On the Wings of Love by Jeffrey Osborne (or George Osborne as Barack calls him) is a nice enough tune but not really for football.
Personally I think it is down to musical taste, for me "Anit no stopping us" does not appeal to me or connect with me as a motivational song, Id prefer Park Life as the clubs theme from the choices but would also be happy with London Calling both to me are more rousing to me than Macfadden and Whitehead.
ANSUN hasnt been played for whatever reason regularly in the last season or so... BUT
In the 70s 80s 90s etc it was our song, many going to PVR in their early days heard that as our past players took to the field. For me this London Calling stuff is weird even being discussed as would ANY song being discussed as our song... as we have one that we've had for DECADES. Shall we just say lets change our kit to beige and cerise all of a sudden or change our nickname to the Bexley ****neys or the Red Pegasuses?
We now have a decent Tannoy and can belt out ANSUN loudly.
Or if you want a motivational song try Jerusalem or some other such anthem.

Yep, with you on this one Tom. As for motivational song - "A las barricadas"!
I wasn't even around in the 70s or 80s but appreciate that it's part of our tradition, and don't want it to be replaced by something that has no link to the club.
I like The Clash but if Fulham are already using the song, and 'down by the river' is more relevant to them, then it is theirs and I don't think we should be using it.
On a slightly different matter, I was amused by Gateshead supporters chanting a ditty to the tune of Anarchy in the UK on Tuesday evening.

Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now, please
Yes we can look backwards all the time or we can see this as a new Welling with the best management team we've ever had, a commercial department that's finally getting somewhere and hopefully a team that can cement its place in the Skrill Premier. Yes we know our history but we should look forward not back. London Calling for me.

Valid points, but I fail to see how any of them tie in with adopting a song from 1979.
