I would presume that the club Is duel registered with the London FA and Kent FA with the London FA being the "parent FA" therefore in footballing terms they are regarded as London
Some of us remember when Bexley was in the administrative county of Kent (the biggest borough, in fact). So Bexley (and Welling) is in London-occupied Kent - just as London is trying to take over other parts of our beloved county (Boris island airport) and dumping its problems here from its more posh boroughs in inner London.
The poll is more about everyone's personal feeling. If somebody came up to you in the street and asked, what would be your instinctive response? The politics of it all have been done to death.
I think it depends on your age, as a boy growing up Welling / Bexley was always part of Kent, but ask a 10 year old and I think they would say London. But to me it will always be a Kent borough.
There is a reason for me asking, relating to the other thread regarding what song the team runs out to.
So far, over two thirds of voters have said "Kent".
Perhaps "London Calling" was directed towards the BBC, perhaps it was just a random choice. Either way, if we play it at every home game from now on then we're embracing a status that most supporters don't agree with, as evidenced by the poll. We'll never get covered by BBC Radio London, but we may just get covered by Kent if we keep piling the pressure on.

I like both! Feel like a Londener as was born in Plumstead and live in London Borough of Bexley. That said am proud of Kent heritage as represented by postal address.
Greater London is an administrative area, ceremonial county and the London region of England.[1] It was created on 1 April 1965, comprising the City of London and 32 London boroughs, of which 12 are Inner London and 20 Outer London boroughs
Prior to 1963 Welling would have been under the old KCC and not the LCC - the bill to create Greater London was signed in 1963 but created two years later, so effectively we have been a Greater London club since 1965 and arguably, since 1963 when the bill was first agreed.
Post codes come from the GPO service which was abolished in 1969 and taken on by the Royal Mail, who kept the same assets and as a result did not change the DA and Kent post names which we have today.

So we are, as I suggested, London-occupied Kent. Time for Kent to reclaim its usurped areas before Boris claims the entire county!
Postal address reads Welling Kent. So no argument, unless it's wrong on our web site.
Plenty of room for argument as we're in the London Borough of Bexley!
So are you saying the address on our web site reads wrong ?
The postal address is Kent but we are governed by the administrative area of Bexley, a London Borough within Greater London. The London Postal District (Central London if you like) is smaller than the Greater London Area.
Am happy to embrace London but am proud of Kent heritage!
Welling have played in a London Borough for all of their senior games. If we really want Bexley to take notice and assist the club shouldn't we stop pretending that we are not part of the borough and accept that, as such, we are a London club?
From that point of view, as much as I consider Welling to be Kent, if we want the support of the Council, and its their ground we lease, I think we need to adopt London.
It is clear from the poll that even we Welling fans cannot decide under which of the categories the club should be placed.
One thing I think no one can dispute is that being in this "no man's land" situation has considerable disadvantages for us and other similarly situated clubs such as Bromley and Barnet.
Not only do we as a result not get the radio coverage afforded to nearly every other club at our level, but we have to compete in two of the meaningless County Cup competitions. Personally I wish we could opt out from both but apparently that is not allowed.
Unfortunately unless there is another local government shake up or post office re-organisation that puts areas such as ours without any doubt into one category or other, I cannot see the disadvantages of the current position being resolved.
