Fantastic news and although the ground improvements are n't quite finished yet and although we are n't quite mathematically safe tonight's Band Night in the Wings bar should be a bit of a celebration for all that has been achieved both on and off the pitch over the last 3 years.

Yes, good news and congratulations so far ... but ... in a little over two weeks we have to have additional turnstiles, a new toilet block. additional terracing and improved dressing rooms. I hope it can be done.
Correct brother keep up the posts maybe I like one soon.
Have a walk around the ground tomorrow see what improvements have been made.
Instead of walking straight into bar.
Do you really think owners won't have ground improvements completed ?
Come on Bertie wake up.

I always have a scan around the ground - not necessarily walking round it. Also, at least I use the club's bars ( helping a tiny bit to pay for any ground improvements one would hope) rather than spending a higher proportion of match-day money lining the pockets of corporate pub chains. Will the ground improvements be completed on time? I, and I suspect many others, would hope so but I am not taking anything for granted. As the late Tony Benn said "it is often the boat-rockers who have helped to build the boat".
If you don't walk round have a look out lounge window today.
You be pleasantly surprised.
Fans can spend money in club bar or other drinking establishments I'm sure you would agree.
I will not comment on Tony benn.
Get back to about ground improvements.
Be positive Bertie right on brother.
When reading on the official website and the comment below , I was expecting to see new crush barriers. When I got to the ground - What do I see park end barriers taken out and replaced elsewhere around - I maybe a cynic but to me that does not constitute new.
New crush barriers have been added to the Danson Park end/cricket side corner terracing and also along the whole of the road end terrace.
No if you read the story it says the cricket ground, damson park end, exactly where it needs to be. I am impressed with the ground works with most of the work done. FFS the club have done a good job so far, based on everything in the green guide.
I spoke to mr hobbins junior before match today all questions answered.
Bertie are you still concerned ?.
All work within guidelines.
Matt the hat swearing tut tut.
I actually cut and pasted the comment and it clearly says new - I am not knocking the club commitment to meeting the green guide and commend then for doing it - all I am saying don't give a statement saying it new when it clearly isn't.
I am pleased the work is done and to be honest it does keep in character of the ground and will look even better with a coat of paint in the closed season. I suppose I am just surprised of how it was achieved
Just out of interest will new barriers be installed at the Park End in due course. They were installed as a result of the "near disaster" against Bath weren't they and the BBC commenting "that it must throw into doubt Welling's ability to host the Blackburn game"? Or is my old brain playing tricks with me again. The ground looked lovely by the way, especially the rockery feature by the main gate.

I know I do a passable impression of senility, but I thought that there were barriers at the park end.

They are new to that end because they have never been there before. If I bought a second hand trampoline and put it up in my garden, I'd call it a new trampoline because it would be new to me.

Whether they're or not is besides the point. It's whether they meet the conference's standards which apparently they do.

And in two years time when you move it 4 foot to the right, would you once again start calling it new because it's new to that spot?
By the same token, will the "new toilet facilities" just be the women's toilet moved to the men's and vice versa?
I see a new row of seating has been installed, but the leg room in the new front row and the old front row is so small it can only be fit for kids. The only way an adult could sit in the second row now is for their legs to hang over to row one.
Good idea but I just think they have tried to fit seats in where there is not room.
