...what a massive occasion this is for us as a club. A huge crowd is expected (although possibly not as big as the AFC Wimbledon attendance of a few years back) and I'm sure a  good atmosphere.

Luton of course have secured the title so their supporters will be having a party. They will of course be looking for a win and it is still possible for them to finish on 101 points but I think it's a great chance for us to bounce back after two straight defeats.

Let's all get right behind the team for these last 3 games and hopefully we can end this great season in style!

Agreed, really looking forward to it. No pressure on us but would be good to arrest the slide a bit.

650 home fans...what a shame we cannot get 4 figure home support for a match of this sort. I fear for next season as this one peters out. Right now I'd settle for second season survival.

Jamie i am sure will put together a squad that will compete at this level again!!!!

Personally i feared for 'this' season.....only to be proved wrong

Lets face it we are never going to win this league....lets enjoy the ride

Unfortunately i couldn't make it today due to work but I'd be interested to know if and how many home supporters were turned away for not having proof of address.

Rest assured I do enjoy the ride!! It is the fact that JD is staying that gives hope for a longer stay in the conference.

One bloke was being refused admission until he unzipped his coat to reveal a Welling shirt! They decided to let him in.

I agree 650 was disappointing today, I thought the prospect of seeing us play Luton would attract a few more.

However, we have survived this season on these crowds and there's no reason to think our crowds will be any lower next season. I haven't spoken to any Welling fans who don't think that next season will be a battle for survival. Survival in this league is a success for a club of our size, and we've no right to expect anything else.

I would have taken our survival and Dirtford's relegation at the start of the season. part one complete; part two in progress.

A good effort today from the team, just couldn't quite match them across the park. Poor defending for their first and Faz was just outmuscled for the second. Roscoe's goal looked a worldie (assuming he meant it!) just a shame we were down the wrong end of the ground to be able to view it.

Only let down was that we allowed all the Luton fans to invade the pitch at the end; only needed to be harsher on the first few who did and the rest would not have followed suit. They saw it was easy to all were at it.

We should not be surprised on the 650 figure as this is probably a true reflection of welling home crowd this season and probably next as well.

Thought our support today was very poor
Champions in town and we can only muster 650
Think the club and Paul have a tough job on their hands going forward especially with the team performing above standard on the pitch

look at the crowd for a game and take away the estimated away support and you will get an estimated figure between 400 - 700 home supporters for that game.

Fan bases are built over a long period of time I personally do not see the club reaching a 1000 supporter fan base by the start of the season. I also believe the fan base we have is also a loyal one and do not see it dropping dramatically so I am confident that we will have a similar size fan base next season and may see a small rise due to the good early bird season ticket deal.

Last season ave crowd per game 615.
I believe club allowed for 750 this season
This season so far 820 thanks to Luton today.
Before Luton today 733 so not to far off.
It's season by season you have to allow for away fans.
Long term I agree 600/800.
We're just have to wait for club commercial manager and wusa to put there ideas for 1000 per home game regarding next season.

Regarding the crowd, I don't think it's fair to judge this game as it's quite an anomaly. There are many factors as to why it was 'lower' than the expected/hoped for:

It's the Easter weekend
It was a 12.30 game
Our season is effectively 'over' - arguably a dead game for any non hardcore
All this talk of potential trouble between fans could have been off putting
Average weather at best

Had this been earlier in the season or with us battling relegation right now, I'd be very surprised if turnout had not been greater.

Don't understand why people expected lots more Welling fans than usual today. Maybe it's just me, but personally I have no particular incentive to watch Luton or any other team in our league.
If I can make a Welling match I'll go whoever we're playing (not that it makes much difference as I have a season ticket).
Nothing I enjoy about watching seeing another team's supporters celebrating promotion and running on the pitch etc

On a positive note we had 2,000 away fans worth of gate money coming into the club, and that got to help with the progress of the club.

Evening one and all. Sadly couldn't make it today as the athletics season has kicked off again so I was busy chucking metal objects about.

I believe Mr Boot is a troll? There's so many I lose track, and I don't really care...but any talk of just "second season survival" is pessimistic. That's the first target of course, and Daisy will say publicly it's his first priority whilst probably secretly thinking we can do a lot better! I think there's a lot of reasons to be optimistic. Young players who will only improve further, and even more senior players like Roscoe/Faz etc were playing at a higher level than they're used to and will be even better for the experience next year.

Daisy will, as ever, find some gems over the summer and we'll hopefully be less reliant on loan players. Daisy will have learnt about his players and what it takes to perform at this level. Those who weren't good enough have been let go. I think the main difference we've noticed at this level is how clinical the finishing is...perhaps Mr Pugh can come "back home" to help us out? If not we've got a good mix of quick, powerful forwards who can also play a bit.

One of my concerns about attendances next season is that the novelty factor will now be gone for a lot of away supporters. Many will have made extra effort to get to Welling because it's a new ground for them. That won't be the case this year bar the (northern) promoted/relegated teams, plus of course we lose the big crowd from Luton. 2000 away fans through the turnstiles today is excellent. It's a shame we don't make much more £ from them other than that - but I won't stir up that old debate again, I'm sure its a work in progress. Paul is doing excellent work and I'm sure the club will buy into whatever ideas he/WUSA suggest to improve our performance off the field and give Daisy a decent, but viable, budget.

We've tailed off recently but it's been a great season. Here's to picking up a few points in the final two games and having a beer-fuelled evening on the 26th. COYW
