Two bars, yet no decent real ale.

Oh well, I guess they are just not targeting people like me. It's lucky they are able to pick and choose the customers they want, most bars/pubs cannot in this day and age.

Its always been completely nuts even more so now with segregation.

Once the away fans are in the away side of the ground how are they meant to get a drink?-EB&Q surely are missing some revenue here

Checking of the new bar facilities will be difficult to regulate once the crowds get bigger for some games as or those who just want a beer and not watch the football

I thought it was about time both bars were open - it really helps ease the pressure on the Wings bar. Whilst it's great now with all the renovations, space and service is still a real issue. Being able to pop into the E&B bar makes life a lot easier.

Giving your trade to E&B is selling your own club short!!!

I have no problem if E&B only open the Bar on a segregated night but not a Tea bar as one is provided by the in house caterers who have paid for this right. A cut of profits would obviously be due to Welling in this instance.

How is it? Welling get the same amount whether I buy my pint in the Wings Bar, the E&B Bar or the Nag's Head.

Hold up, who gets the profit from any sales From E&B bar being open, this is Wrong IMHO.  It's Welling's home game any cash made should be going to us. not our tenants. Defeats the whole point of having a refurbed bar and if i had invested cash in that venture i would be less than happy.

Yes but not really for us to be worried about is it........

We have far more pressing things like points on the table to worry about than 5 cups of tea and a burger or two

It's hardly an either/or situation though, is it Mark?

Daisy isn't going to be the one sorting the catering and bar(s), nor are the Hobbins going to be taking training and giving the teamtalks!

Common sense at last. Assume Welling get some share of the profits?

Is this for real? Do you even know whether Welling get a share of the profits from their own bar?

A lot of supporters seem very inquisitive about the runnings of the club, yet haven't joined WUSA. Had they joined WUSA they'd be able to check the WUSA section of the forum regarding the arrangement for the Wings Bar, and be able to get involved with other aspects of runnings of the club.

Regarding the E&B bar, loads of supporters have been begging for it to be opened on matchdays. It would seem the club are damned if they do, and damned if they don't.
Even if the club don't get a cut of the E&B bar takings, it helps E&B pay off their bill for the ground share. So the club get something one way or another.

A crowd of only 611 should be more of a concern.

Will be more bars than supporters soon.

1)   You may have philosophical reasons for not joining WUSA which you don't have when it comes to commenting on other things.

2)   Knowing who runs the club I would actually be surprised if we got a share of the profits (certainly this year). A more risk averse strategy such as claiming a rent for the bar space would be a more in keeping with past actions so at least they would have some certainty over income and minimised risk (which, if it is the case, given the bar sounds a radical departure for WUFC and the surrounding area is not a wholly bad strategy).

3)  I presume our bar will still be open when Erith have a game. They may argue tit for tat.

  •  People on holiday.
  • Low away crowd.
  • Minimal publicity.
  • Millwall at home, Charlton playing not far away in Brentford.
  • Increased cost of living.
  • Work?

There'a a number of reasons why the crowd was low for the game. If it stays low, then we'll have to worry about it.

Have the people complaining about the attendance done anything to help push it up. E.G Invited friends/family to game, promoted the game on Facebook/Twitter, volunteered to leaflet?...

Dartford were at home too, so neutrals in the NW Kent / SE London area may have found their game with ex-league club Wrexham more enticing than hours with cloggers Telford.

If anyone's ever been in the Erith bar then the only people who might want to go in there are people missing a 1960s sitcom set.

If you want a beer and want to support the club at the same time - you can't. If you want a beer and want to support E&B then you could last Saturday. If you want a beer and want to support a bar that has links with the club you can. Or none of the previous. Simple choices.

Just for the record, there was no need to "ease pressure" on the Wings bar on Saturday as has been mentioned. I know it wasn't exactly a big attendance, but I got in there 2 minutes after the HT whistle (had to scoff down a hotdog first) and there was no queue whatsoever. Service is far, far quicker than it was last season.

Says a lot that 'supporters' would rather buy a drink in E&B bar than a bar, where the owner has sponsored the club shirts, when no-one else would.

Happy with 611?

Yeah, see you at Torquay!

What a strange debate. The more facilities available to Welling supporters on matchday the better. Also, it is odd to think that there are no benefits to Welling to have the extra bar open at half time when there is very little time and opportunity to spend money.

Why don t we concentrate on the football and say well done to those who have tried to improve our matchday experience?

Any time I've been in there the queue is reaching the door, despite the improved service. Perhaps the queue was light as quite a few people were in the E&B bar?
