Sounds like we have been a bit unlucky. Would be great to come back and get a point - it'd take us out of the bottom 4. Those around us aren't exactly pulling clear...
That's three goals in each of the three away games. Yes, we are playing well in patches, and you can comment on bad luck etc, but if you let in three in each away game you get naff all. The table doesn't lie.
A much improved performance by the team. Played very well first half but was undone by 2 good finishes by Eastleigh and a couple of defensive lapses. Best performance of the season so far and if we play like that the first win will be coming soon.
I love these comments from people complaining about the defending that weren't even at the game! We've just played a team whose 2 strikers were probably on the same wage as our entire team. There's a few that need a reality check on our resources and the calibre of player we can afford when you have Ebbsfleet, Dartford, Maidstone and Margate all throwing money around.
Final point, we may have a poor season and we may get relegated but at least we are not overspending like some clubs and we actually have a team to watch, unlike the fans of Salisbury. With players like Corne, Willams and Hudson coming through the future is looking bright.

Bad defending has let us down we've conceded 11 goals in 5 games which isn't good enough, our strikers/wingers ain't good enough either, not looking good so far.

Thought we were a lot better today, first 20/25 minutes was all welling, but you have to stick the ball away when you are on top, the less said about bush at the back the better, can have him at all, can't win a contested header, distribution shocking & the comment from the commentator at Torquay isn't far from the truth, he is an accident waiting to happen, we will ship goals all season if that's one of our best defenders
Just getting depressing not much to say tbh but I agree bush is a liability only thing he good for is a long throw sums it up really and we dont look very good upfront at all.... Still going on saturday hope to see lots of you there need to get behind the boys and show why we are a gr8 club to be a fan of COYW
Thanks to Barry Hobbins for the chocolate to the supporters on the way home.
Harry beautyman came over to the fans at the end and said "Things will get better, I promise." If we play like we did for most of today then that will be true.

I don't think we should be too despondent yet; we punched above our weight last season, and this season so far is more reflective of our true position in this league. With all our young or new players, I think they will gel and improve as the season progresses. The crucial games for us this season will be against Dover, Dartford, Alfreton, Chester and Nuneaton, and the away match against Telford. Losing away at Torquay, Halifax and Eastleigh is just reflective of the resources of those teams, and the quality they can buy.
Must agree with Polo was by far the best performance of the season. We created a few chances today and that was the pleasing thing. We must cut out defensive errors as it led to the goals today but the performance of Hudson and work rate of Beautyman shows there is a lot of effort being put in on the pitch by the players n off by the coaching team.
Only disappointment couple of players not acknowledging the travelling support....
Well done on the organisation of the coach travel today as well.
I wasn't at the game but I listened to the entire 90 minutes of commentary, and I have attended or listened to the full commentary on every game thus far. I think I am therefore reasonably placed to say the defending, as a unit and individually, thus far, has not been good enough. Results and goal difference confirm this as well.
The performance, given it was a decent neutral commentary from Eastleigh fans, and not rose-tinted specs, did make it sound like we played very well yes. Good. That is pleasing. Realistically I wasn't expecting anything from the game, and Eastleigh have spent a fortune, so yes, there is a lot of positive to take from it, and as mentioned above, its the games against the bottom half of the table not the top that will seal our fate this season.
However, let's not just say everything is brilliant after every game please. It's boring, and it's not true.
There are some things that aren't good enough, but I trust Jamie to put them right like he has before. If we aren't allowed to point out valid criticisms then shut the forum down, and do we really think Jamie doesn't point some of these things out in the dressing room and at training anyway?
I agree that we cannot be expected to compete with these "bigger" larger spending clubs, however, the point remains, we haven't defended well enough. Partly due to not yet being a settled unit, and injuries, and a tough run of fixtures, but similarly I am sure Jamie isn't exactly delighted. I don't think a reasonable, fair slight negative comment is a wrong one.
I too am very glad we have a club to support, and the younger players getting game time. That's to be commended. But am I therefore not entitled to expect better/more from some of the other players that have more experience and have played at a higher level?
The day we are relentlessly positive no matter what we are faced with is the day we'll go down. Sometimes a boot up the arse is needed.
Jamie is an outstanding young manager, I have no doubt at all that he will get the best out of those available to him, and if people aren't buying into it or performing as required they'll be moved on.
Your right Kevin. My post above wasn't aimed at you. However I'm not saying everything is brilliant after every game as it isn't and results show that. But some posters slagging players off by name is not helpful. These are young players and as said to be by one of the coaching staff on saturday, they will lose confidence if they are always being told they are not good enough or poor. I hope Jamie puts it right too but again we don't have the resources to go out and sign a 25 goal a season striker or an amazing centre back. So how does jamie turn it round? We are going to have to work on the players we have and turn them into better players as the season goes on. Halifax was an awful performance and there was criticism, rightly so. But today we played really well and just made a few costly mistakes. These are mistakes that will be made by players, if they didn't make mistakes they would be playing at a much higher level and not at Welling United.
I'm sure everyone makes mistakes in their jobs, and if you were constantly criticised by people it would knock your confidence as well.
Onwards and upwards to Forest Green next week. Another performance like today and we are in with a shout of getting a result

I agree Dean, Jamie is definitely the man that will improve those wanting to be improved and wanting to play for the club, and will ditch those that aren't good enough. There is always one.
Personal criticism of players isn't productive no, but at the same time there have been instances in the recent past, with players like KHM, where it took too long to make the necessary call.
We are improving, which is good, let's hope for a win next week.

Rather a pity that at least one of the players did not wish to receive the acknowledgement of those that travelled to support the team and was back in the dressing room like a rabbit down a hole! A much better performance but we still seem to be making costly errors. A little young, a little lightweight but we will come through.

In three words I can sum up everything i've learnt in life; it goes on.
I think people are getting a bit carried away. We're only five games in. We're not the Hyde of this season as other results today showed.
If performances were getting worse then I would be worried but they seem to have improved since Halifax. Half the squad are brand new and it will take time for them to gel properly.
As others have said Jamie will improve and get the best out of those that want to play, and ditch those that don't.
Plus we've got a couple of key players such as Charlie Penny and Joe Healy missing at the moment. When we get them back it should have a positive effect.
Give it another five games and we could be in the top half, and will have forgotten about the first five games.
Keep the faith. In Jamie we trust.
