Just listened to the interview with Jamie Day after the Grimsby game. Sad to hear Lee Butcher will be going to focus on his full-time job. I think we were very lucky to get Lee after he left Leyton Orient, considering he's of League quality. Thanks Lee. All the best mate.
If we were to replace him, wouldn't the new keeper have to be non contract or something? Couldn't we just utilise Jamie Turner? Sounds questionable I know but it could be an option.
What does a young-20s bloke, an ex Football League player, told for 18 months by his manager he is a "league keeper", do for a living that makes him jack it in?
All the best Lee, shame to see you go given your quality, but we won't forget the times you've saved us many, many points.
Dont worry we survived relegation 3 times last time we were in the conference due to other clubs or a tree...........can we grow a tree in someones ground for May.....

We could claim that the strange thing in the ground at the end of the QE bridge is a tree. Just stick a few leaves on it and it is job done.
4 bodies down......will we have enough for the bench soon?
Need...a) a couple of new players plus now a keeper
B) some stability!!
We have three strikers of which none so far have scored....
All a bit depressing really!!
Sadly it looks as though second season syndrome has all but captured WUFC.
Spoken like a true Welling fan clearly.
"Second season syndrome" is a term used, in my view, to highlight clubs that think when surviving the first season, the second season is a formality, that the job is done, that it gets easier now they have stayed up once.
Firstly, that is the laid-back, casual mentality that will get you in the s**t pretty damn fast.
Secondly, it cannot be universally thrown like a blanket over all clubs in the league/country/world football.
Thirdly, and finally, it cannot be levelled at Jamie Day and his team, or Welling United, given our status, finance, facilities, crowds, etc, in comparison to every other team in the division. If we were to get relegated this season, and I don't think we will, it wouldn't be as a result of the so called "second season syndrome" and complacency, it would be that we are punching massively above sour weight against other larger clubs in our league, and therefore the odds are somewhat stacked against us before we have even started, especially with comments like yours.
