I never feel ripped off paying to watch Welling. I do sometimes watching Forest. I still pay it though.

£15 is a lot for the fifth tier, just as ticket prices are too high at every other club in the UK. You could see Forest v Spurs for £5 in 1991. Both sides had players who had just played a World Cup semi-final. Dropped into a inflation calculator it tells me that kind of game should cost £9 now. I doubt you'd get in for less than £50 at Spurs, and at Forest it is £35 for the biggest matches even though the standard of football is now lower. You can't watch sixth versus seventh tier for the inflation adjusted equivalent of an early nineties Division One game. Bromley v Grays last night was £12.

Add to that, Forest ask you to pay for 'away memberships' and 'home memberships' which get you nothing other than the ability to join the ticket queue earlier. If you don't do it, you'll miss out on some games where there are less tickets available. There is no justification for it other than to make money out of fans loyalty. Even though they already have a system that makes it easy to see exactly how many games each fan has been to, and who should get priority when tickets are in short supply. I think this is the norm at a lot of clubs.

At least at Welling I see a club punching above its weight, semi-professional in a competition where half the teams are pro. You hear about players retiring early because they can earn more doing something else, collection buckets and a turnstile that needs to be built to meet league requirements. You know its not greed, that ticket price. Further up the league structure you know it is. If you wanted to pay £60 to see Chelsea (no idea why you would) you know a chunk of will be spent on the wages of another young talent nabbed from a football league club who'll immediately be sent back out on loan again, probably never play for them, and the payer would have been better staying put.

I take it the food and drink figure doesn't take beer into account? Not sure £60 will cover that for a season!

Price of a ticket in today's football is a joke. Only have to look at the setup in Germany to see how reasonable the prices are at Bayern and Dortmund! they take care of there fans and that's shown in the prices of there season tickets and European away games.

I'm a Spurs fan and have been a member for ten years, last two seasons I have been offered a season ticket, cheapest being £750 I cant afford this. I paid £60 last season to go to Man City away! I normally pay on average at home games around £38-£45 a ticket not including the big games London derbys etc.

I salute Welling, and the two times so far Ive been this season I have no problem with paying the £15 especially as I like to think it goes toward helping the club survive and to watch some football which is still real and not been destroyed by Sky!

And dame, I do love a Saturday 3pm game! Ive forgotten what thats like at Spurs

m.newsshopper.co.uk/news/11536537.Charlton_offer_cheaper_day_out_than_Millwall_or_Palace_according_to_BBC_survey/

I appreciate we let the kids go free but there's no point in having this promotion of we make it too expensive for the adults that have to accompany them. £15 is too much for Non-League football, hence why our ground is only 10-20% full on matchdays.

There's no short-term solution for this as years of mis-management on the ticket pricing have trapped the club in a very tight budget that doesn't give breathing room for any long-term ticket price drops.

The only possibly promotion we can do is a one off at one of the cup games or during an international break, of football for a fiver, or something similar.

Question on bbc radio 2 earlier. What costs least

ticket to spurs programme pie and tea

lady gaga ticket in glasgow

barnet replica

Answer the spurs package around £45

gaga was around £49 and the barnet replica around £50!!!

Also said on radio the extra dosh the premiership got from sky could have reduced every premiership ticket by over £51.

imho its about time some more of this money was filtered down to non league football by the prem and fa to encourage up and coming local talent

Both teams would have to agree to that on a shared gate match.

Alot of sides would agree to a price drop on £15.

For larger teams, they would want a large away following. A lot of away supporters are not willing to pay £15 to watch Welling, as we've seen this season now the 'novelty' of going to Welling has worn off. In our favour, the lower ticket price would attract more local neutrals to the game.

I can't see lower league sides protesting as yet again they'll want a large away following, and both sides will want as large a crowd as possible. Charging £10 for the KSC game the other night didn't benefit anyone. I'll be surprised if 100 supporters went to that game.

On the commercial side, we need consistent four figure crowds to attract sufficient business interest and commercial revenue to survive. Without this money, the club is dead in the water. Businesses will not want to advertise with us, if there is nobody to advertise to...

Looking at match and matchball sponsorship take up, it's pretty clear the drop in attendances has had an impact.

Like I said though, years of financial mismanagement have made it very difficult for the club to lower the ticket prices without crippling the budget. If there was a oneprice ticket price reduction, there'd also have to be a decent enough advertising campaign for the game to ensure a sufficient enough crowd to prevent a drop in overall gate revenue.

We all know people that want to see Welling play but don't want to be ripped off by £15 match tickets.

Only 1 game this season not had a match sponsor (check the page in the programme if u can get one) , matchball has never had a high take up , As for businesses we have plenty of top quality local ones advertising with us and we have attracted even more in the last
year including a new Main Sponsor , that also has alot to do with how these people are handled away from the matchday scene.

I can confirm it would have been 190 had it been more reasonably priced.

How many of those 189 were friends/family of the young 16-17 year olds making their debuts?

If £10 is enough to put off a season ticket holder, fair to say there aren't going to be many floaters turning up! Whilst a tenner doesn't break the bank, it's the principle.

Paul I apologise. I stand corrected.  I see the Matchday sponsorship availability page has been updated as a couple of weeks ago there weren't that many sponsors listed.

Paul, you're doing a fantastic job. I think everyone will back that statement up.

No problem with the costs of going to Welling, by no means is £15 a rip off!!!
A drop in price no way guarentees an increase in fans. Plus a drop in price, means a drop in income -> quality of players -> possibly league and then your not attracting anyone because of the league your playing in. Reality check please.

£15 alone is fine but to go regularly is where the problem starts. I used to go to virtually every home game but now can only afford to go once in a blue moon. We will struggle to attract new regular fans. It's not welling's fault it's just the way things are these days.

And the irony is, I wasn't even having a pop at Paul.
