And can we put the prices up for away fans if we do as they don't seem to mind paying £23 to sit and £17 to stand. To think you could get 2 Fulham v Derby tickets for that, and still have enough left for a programme. And this year they may even be able to enjoy the E&B Bar, so please let's segregate.
Seems like their forum bods think its a good time to give one of their 2nd string centre backs a bit of game time. Apparently that`s a good idea against "sides like Welling". BBB or what. Didnt manage to beat us last year and scored once against us from the penalty spot.
Does the dreaded S word (segregation) apply to this fixture?
It does indeed, confirmed on the main site
Not the Welling I've got used to over the years. Police insisting? How daft was the Chester segregation last season!
Agree with your sentiment but the club have to meet with the police and act on their intelligence. If the club did not segregate after police information and it hit the fan then we could find segregation in place for every game as happens in many other conference clubs.
"police intelligence" or however it is usually worded is nonsense when it comes to a smaller club like Welling. Completely over the top. There is no history or any reason to suggest there would be anything different at this game than usual, other than a few extra people.
I Agree Segregation is a bit ott when Barnet prob wont even bring 1000+ Cambridge brought way over a 1000 last season (or it felt like it) and that wasnt segregated.
However that being said i do think we shou;ld segregate the big two Torquay and Bristol Rovers,I read somewhere we would be segregating Wrexham Why?? they hardly brought any last year!!!!
They segregated Luton and then a thousand of them took over the pitch!!!
The serious side of this is that the mix of fans at Welling is part of the experience and we are at risk of losing something that is becoming uncommon in the world of football.
Segregation must remain the exception rather than the rule.
Segregation is the price of progress up the football pyramid
That's what many people think. I think it often causes as many problems as it is supposed to solve. So when does a team like Barnet require segregation? They will bring a number in the low hundreds. Do they have such a hooligan reputation?
It is so refreshing to be able to mix with local fans at football. We should do everything in our power to preserve this. So many football supporters travel hundreds of miles to be shoved straight into a ground...and then travel hundreds of miles home again. It stops me going to away games. The only away segregated game I have attended was at Dartford for the play-off and I didn't totally see the need for tha either as it was already all ticket.
