Just got back from hols and catching up with things and great news about 3 points yesterday and the signings we have made. Thats all good. Many people may think the CAFC link is good as well and I'm all for getting people through the door and this may well have good repercussions. Having read the thread I feel Clarkey 65 has a good point, we can also use existing season ticket holders to get people through the gate at a discounted price. I feel the CAFC supporters may be a one hit brigade and if we are to encourage them then yes the beer in the club house needs to be looked at. I have not been in there apart from the "meet the ... eves" since good old Tudor (RIP) departed this mortal coil. Frankly the bitter is awful, the lager freezing and I asked GH about Guinness about 8 years ago and still waiting, but I understand that volume is a problem.
Now this wonderful council of ours have decided to back the club. Have we not been under their noses for god knows how long and for nothing. But all of a sudden when a bit of pressure comes to bear with threats of elections to the council, initiatives re commintiy actions two councillors are credited with revolutionary ideas to combine the two clubs efforts. Why now?-why was something not done years ago by Bexley council?
Councillor Perfect (Charlton Gold Bond scheme) and Councillor Everitt(Charlton employee) frankly should be congratulated for getting this off the ground and also ashamed that nothing has happened sooner. I will await the outcomes with interest to see if we all of a sudden are blest with Bexley council's efforts or whether they will ride the gravy train if we are to make the playoffs.
I try to take a positive outlook on things and can see the pluses but I take a dim view of the Councils approach. Whilst I'm on one and not to harp about not having my bins emptied at Christmas a friend of mine got a parking ticket for having two wheels on the pavement in a nearby street. Deserved some might say, others might say trying to keep the traffic moving by taking consideration for other road users to make more room. Whichever way issuing the ticket at 10pm on a Friday night is taking the piss.
Personally the sooner this bunch of clowns are out at the next local elections the better. Rant over!!
My wife got a parking ticket when the dustmen asked her politely if she could move her car so they could get through. Someone had parked on the other side of the street (which nobody normally does) and they couldn't get through. They were knocking on all doors to see if they could get it moved. My wife duly obliged by putting 2 wheels up on the kerb. She went out 5 minutes later and there was the ticket.
My daughter was caught by the dreaded bus lane camera in Welling. Judging by the photo they sent her, she must have clipped the last yard of the lane.Time of ticket.......... 18:58.
The Tories have vowed to remove that bus lane camera when they regain power. I wonder if they'll keep their word.
The worst bit of so called traffic calming is in Brampton Road. The traffic regularly tails back over the railway bridge. It even did it last week at half term. Put the roundabout back and it'll be problem solved.
The biggest example of incompetence though has to be the slalom run in Oakehampton Crescent. What the hell is that all about. It just encourages me to go faster out of defiance.
