If your good enough...your old enough....or that is the plan for tonight....with 2 games against Brizzle coming we need something from this.....away form is dreadful...time to change that!!
Certainly not a classic but we were the better team. Those who said we cannot play against physical sides may want to think again after the last two games. Match reports won't be available until tomorrow as the website appears to be down.
Must be the youngest back four we have ever fielded in a league game last night. The two centre halves have been immense in the last two games and coped really well with the physical stuff. Joey Taylor made a good impression on his first start and Barney had a great game defending and going forward on the right hand side. Midfield worked hard all night on a heavy pitch although without Harry we lacked a bit of pace in that area. Penny edges it for me as motm - not just for the winning goal but for his sheer effort. Didn't give their centre halves any respite at all and how they didn't get a red for a professional foul on him in the second half was beyond me. For older Wings fans he reminds me a bit of Terry Robbins and, if he has half the impact he had in a Welling shirt, then I will be more than happy.
With Fyfield and Bush due back and Jefford soon as well we are looking strong defensively and the manager will have some decisions to make there. If we can get another attacking option in to replace Beautyman and help Penny then things are looking much more positive than a couple of weeks ago. Congrats also to the management team for their part in a very organised and disciplined performance last night.
Possibly one of the most important results in our recent history as it showed we can still win without Harry before confidence had a chance to drop off. Won't make any highlights reels (for good or bad reasons) but frankly don't give a monkey's about that!
Could just have done with some highways agency git not sending me round half of Cambridgeshire to get home...
A bit belated as I've had a manic couple of days but well done lads! Fantastic result. Just need to keep working hard and stay focused, and we'll be alright.
Thought it was an outstanding and disciplined performance. The young defence were superb and we broke when we could.
Have to say Aristide Basselle has turned in two good performances and battled away ifor the side and Charlie Penny has worked his socks off. Agree with Wingnut that he is very much in the Terry Robbins mould.
Think we are four points ahead of schedule in terms of staying up and if we can use Harry's wage to find a decent player we will be fine.
