Although this speculation is out of our hands (where and who is the source saying that Jamie has applied?) it really has to be settled one way or another. This limbo must have an impact on players and supporters. If Jamie has applied, and he gets the job we not only lose a fine manager but also a good player too - and one we cannot afford to lose over the next few weeks with Jake suspended, Harry gone, injuries and no prospect of loanees until January.

I bet he's playing it down! Over 50 have applied apparently. You can't blame him in some ways if he has but would be a huge blow for us.
If he's applied and doesn't get it he can deny he was ever that interested! He may or may not have applied for the Braintree job when Devonshire got it.
Let's hope the Kuwaiti ownership at Ebbsfleet opt for a 'name' when appointing!
I would have thought that a release clause could only be triggered if he went to a League club or at least Conf Prem. I don't think there would be such a clause if Jamie goes to a club below us, no matter how big or seriously minted it is - and certainly not a nearby rival with the prospect that players currently registered with us who enjoy working with Jamie may be tempted to join him and the impact that would have on our attempts to recruit particular "Daisy diamonds" in future. Also, I think Jamie has about 20 months to run on his contract - and don't forget he is also registered with us as a player. As brilliant as Jamie is, we should also bear in mind that he has a top-class team behind him in Barry Ashby, Dean Frost and Stacey Beckham. If he goes, would he want to take them with him, or would one or more of their number want to stay and do the job? All speculation, which, obviously, while it is out there and not confirmed or denied, will continue and be added to by us!

No point in him taking a backward step IMO. I should think a bloke of his ability would be looking at the league above or even above that. He`s won the connie south title and is managing in the Connie prem. Onwards and upwards is the next step not onwards and downwards. I will be pleased for the guy if he moves up in his career but going downwards....nah stupid move.

If he did go who could blame him, he has to rebuild the team every year and make do with very little money relying on youth most of the time. Yes it proves what a good job he is doing but at some point he must be thinking just imagine what I could do with a settled team and a bit of money. And it is still local to where he lives with a young family.
The backroom team Jamie has put together is again one of the best I believe in the conference, we all know Jamie is not the most vocal which is where Barry comes into play, and then you have Dean that commands pre match training. If he did go I would like to see Barry step up and get back into management after a short spell at Margate.
If Jamie goes do you not think he will have the sense to take Barry with him?
And regarding money Riverstown. I don't think it is guessing, I think it common sense. They are full-time and have Kuwaiti's financing them. I'd be pretty sure that means they are financially better off than anyone in the Conf South and most in the Conf Prem as well. What do you think Jamie and his team would be capable of doing given the effective doubling of his personal wage and team budget? A lot of damage I expect.
I hope it doesn't happen, but fear it might. Let us hope the Kuwaiti's go for a older head. More fool them if they do mind.
I suspect Jamie would be paid much more - and he would undoubtedly have a far bigger budget for players. Money helps, but it does not necessarily guarantee success. When other clubs and players know you have money, prices and wages tend to go up accordingly. Also, it is not always easy managing a big budget club with far greater expectations and pressure for success based on the money spent.

If Eurostar are that well off I'll take a guess that he might treble his wage then. Common sense ain't it.

NLP report on the game yesterday says that Jamie hasn't applied for the Ebbsfleet job but they have asked permission to speak to him. Apparently the club can refuse. I can't see them doing that. I was expecting this at the end of the season, not now. What does WUSA know about this? If anything.

Why not? He's under contract and unless someone is willing to spend zillions why should we release the best management team in non league football. It's about time this club stood up for itself and stopped being shafted.

Shhhhhhhsssss, hush, no whispering in the ranks. Whatever you do, don't mention Daisy and Ebbsfleet in the same sentence

Agreed, and remember that Jamie has also been a key player this season - so any compensation should reflect that.

What he said. The club needs to grow some balls and learn to negotiate hardball style. After all, there are shareholders to think of now...
Hahahahahahaha
Of course like everyone else I really want Jamie to stay but money talks and he has bills to pay like the rest of us.
If Jamie goes (and we can't begrudge him if he does) then we need a compensation package to reflect that but do we honestly think all that compensation will be ploughed back into the club towards a new management team and players....??

I suspect that the club may "have bills to pay like the rest of us" too. That said, if Jamie is going, I would be very disappointed if a good wedge of any agreed compensation could not help us get a new manager and help towards some players.
I would imagine the club will obviously have discussed with Jamie - if he says he'd like to talk to them I can't see Barrie and Barry saying to Ebbsfleet that they can't, wont help our internal relations at all!
Given we, the manager, and the club all regularly make comments about allowing young players to move on to bigger/better things and league football, it would be strange if the same principle didn't apply if the management team wanted to better themselves. I wouldn't take the step down, but if they want to then for the right deal for Welling then we should allow them to do it.
That depends if you consider bigger and better things meaning Conference South....which I don't.....money talks but lets face it Margate could do the same ....is thst bigger or better?
I think we slap a price on Jamie as manager and player and say take it or leave it....70k plus 10k each for Ash and Frosty
Then we see how serious they are......that would be peanuts for the Kuwaiti owners
