Now I am sure the club have their own opinions but it would be nice for the fans to have a place to voice their opinions too, and let's hope the club read it.

So, who do we want?

And I am not saying for one moment this is going to happen, but please don't let it be something uninspired like Kevin Hales. Failed once, and I don't see he's done anything since that would be of use to Welling.

I was amazed when Jamie got the job. Not because I thought he wouldn't be a good manager, just amazed the club had the guts to give a young manager/novice the job. Maybe I am giving them too much credit and it was more a case of it being the cheap option ... player/manager and two backroom assistants with no contract and minimal wage. You won't find many of them regularly, and any decent manager now will be waiting a decent wage for himself, his team, funds to spend on players wages, etc.

I'd be making another calculated risk with a young person who can play as well, and with an old head alongside.

Parky for me.

Gavin Rose... Or Lee Clarke (as long as there's an experienced coach/assistant alongside him)

I have heard from a former player that an ex-premier league player with international coaching experience at youth level has applied. he wouldn't give me a name though. aagain, e may fit the bill of a young manager who does not necessarily require high wages

Parky?? Are you Tom's agent or something?! Sorry but far too young for me and, regardless of who the number two, he still needs to command respect from the dressing room. In five or ten years time then maybe but not now.

I reckon that Gavin bloke should get the job...

Gavin Rose would be a good choice yes, but does he have the contacts at a higher level? all his contacts are in lower leagues. Loan players are a big part of our squad, and will be in the future given our budget restraints, where are they going to come from now?

Ben Martin? does he have coaching experience? Clarke and Martin left as were deemed surplus to requirements on the field, has that changed? they aren't getting any younger.

All very interesting.....ex Premiership player....Parker type springs to mind!!!....that didn't end well....or indeed start well..and it wasn't great in the middle either.

The key to me is contacts....at all levels

Don't think Gary Abbott is the answer. Didn't do well at Kent Football United, Sittingbourne, Fisher etc. Best left as a playing legend in my opinion.

Kevin Hales was at the Bristol Rovers game and said to me he wasn't interested in returning to management and is currently scouting for Reading (although that could change with Adkins getting the sack). Incidentally despite what people say on here he is actually a nice bloke when you talk to him and always was when he was managing the club.

Gavin Rose is untried at this level but then was Jamie at any level, but I don't know enough about him to judge apart from he seems to have brought Dulwich on well.

No one has mentioned the bloke Pike at Gosport Borough. To get that club from step 5 to step 2 and an FA Trophy Final is a fantastic achievement and I can't imagine it was done with fortunes. Worth an interview?

Doubtless there will be plenty who are up for it, the key is finding someone up TO it.

I have no doubts Kevin Hales is a nice man. I am more concerned about the ability of the candidate then his niceness. Can be a right horrible git for all I care if the players play for him and results follow.

If we want to be brave and want raise the clubs profile over night = go for Hope Powell and be the club to employ a female boss.

a more realistic shout for an ex player now coaching for me would be Jason Ewell

Can't believe he was even invited to interview. Would have cost a bomb, and not that good. Blessing in disguise.

Andy Townsend could get it and stand in front of the dugout shouting 'better from you.'

I would guess it will probably be a first management appointment for someone. That proved an outstanding success in Jamie Day's case, reasonably good with Adrian Pennock and a disaster in the case of Neil Smith.

Whoever gets it won't have money so the ability to create team spirit is vital.

Chief scout who took Tonbridge backwards - I'll pass (which is more than his teams did by all accounts)

It would be nice if the club gave supporters some kind of up-date as to what is going on

Do you really believe that the club should announce who all the applicants are, who has been invited for interview, who has been turned down, who may have turned us down etc etc?

This is all confidential information.

If the club has said nothing, it means there is nothing to say.

He actually took Tonbridge a long way forwards before they went back on limited resources. Wouldn't be my choice but doesn't make him a bad manager

The club are still interviewing this week which is the priority rather than daily updates when nothing has changed. They are not fools and know the appointment has to be made soon and as they did a pretty good job with the last choice maybe people need to have faith.

At a time when we are in a sticky situation, and when the aim is to encourage current supporters to introduce new ones, in a move towards Target 1000, I wonder what could be done by some to encourage current supporters to get more involved, and certainly to discourage them from walking away. as a fair number have chosen to do in recent times?
