Exactly what we need to be honest, experienced head on and off the pitch.

A really good signing (even at 37) Saw him start his career at Orient, always gave his best (even when asked to play up front).
All the best Darren

I wish I could join the happy throng who apparently claim Darren to be our saviour, ("Great signing", "Excellent signing", "Exactly what we need"). I would suggest time will tell if he is that great and excellent, all he has done so far is put the proverbial pen to paper! From what I saw of his calendar year at Millwall, (2011) which included loan spells to Yeovil and Plymouth, he only made 9 starts and 4 sub appearances for the Lions, and 9 starts for his 'loan' clubs, and spent some time injured or unfit. Enthusiastic maybe but the jury is out for me until tried and tested at our level. Welcome Darren anyway, I sincerely hope you can 'pull your strings' and give the mighty Wings your best shot! Excuse the pun!

I think Purse is a good signing especially with a young back four (and whole team). He can pass on knowledge and coaching that will be very useful, it's not just about the playing ability for me at the moment. The amount of times you see experienced opposition players 'do a job' on our younger players will hopefully be a bit more contained.

I'd like to welcome BexleyLion to the forums while we are welcoming people.

In his fledgling forum career in 20 posts, Hes managed to slag off ( a lot of the time in a veiled way and this is just some of them)

The club
The website
Darren Purse
Darenth under 15s website
This forum
The Wings Sports Bar
Dennis Strudwick
BBC Radio Shropshire
Jake Gallagher
Linesmen
all while often saying "I wasn't there but, etc"

We can only aspire to pick up more "floating supporters" with as much positivity as he.

If he pays his money and comes to watch Welling he can criticise whoever he wants on the forum. As long as they are genuine about their support for Welling and not just supporters from another club joining simply to stir things up then is there any real purpose in analysing their posts in this way? Otherwise maybe we should make this a closed forum where only those who tick the right boxes can post. To bring this back to Welling United excellent interview with the bearded one on the main website.

We have at least three trolls from other clubs currently infecting the forum with negative trolling diatribe, we also have a troll with hundreds of posts. They must be good trolls to some as people seem to think they support Welling.

Nobody knows ANY of these trolls. They do not go to Welling regularly. They do not support Welling and all they post is negativity. From the posting styles of at least two of them, our old friend Wings63 is still at large.

I am amazed at the tree hugging pc brigade that read it and get taken in by it on a consistent basis. We cannot all be sensible and intelligent though.

I do agree with part of your post True Welling fans have a right to post criticism, constructive would be nice and ripping into something for the sake of it offers no value and if its so bad then they are free to go elsewhere.

PS welcome to Darren Purse, a good signing for many reasons, Someone who will head and kick it, has huge amounts of experience, someone who loves the game and can also talk to players on the pitch helping with organisation.
