Jeffrey is supposed to be lightening quick, and Duguid has a career in the league behind him.
Will be interesting if we play Jeffrey as a striker or another wide man, he could be another Tyrone Marshlets hope he hits the ground running on Saturday and roasts Chester's defenders.

Doesn't bother me signing players over 35 considering how young our squad was. Also the fitness of players nowadays and treatment of injuries has vastly improved. I think you can play until 40 with the right attitude (sadly they makes me retired!).
I imagine the older players will be on deals to the end of the season. If they see us safe they will have done the job. If they have proved themselves good enough for another season at the end of this, that'll be good for them.
If I recall, we only get a fininte number of loan opportunities and I imagine we have used a good percentage of those already so those opportunities outside the transfer window would be limited. You are then looking at free agents.
Hopefully Barrie will have learnt from our previous indebtedness and Jody doesn't want his first appointment at this level to go tits up so there may be a bit of sparring over the budget but hopefully they will get it right on and off the pitch, get us through to the end of the season remaining in the Conference National and then look at it all again from a position of more stability.

I agree with a fair bit of that. I think the manager in earlier interviews has alluded to the fact that we need some short term measures to help us stay up. This is in stark contrast to the Day method of recruiting hungry young players but what works for one manager doesn't necessarily work for another.
We have certainly beefed up the squad (which was badly needed) and will now have a bench with options on it which we haven't had for some time.
However it does smack a little bit of quantity over quality in my humble opinion.
Not sure if The Karl Duguid signing will go down well with Patsy. !!
He was in the hospitality Suite at the Plymouth cup match . . And despite Patsy saying that she wanted the last slice of chocolate cake he still took it.
Redeemed himself though by signing her programme.
On a serious note good to see Jody bringing in experienced players as it will be helpful not only to the team but the younger players.
I don't think we were far off even when Marsh and Beautyman went.
Corne was playing well in midfield but Jody has probably only seen him at right back, we probably needed a left back as Jefford has been injured, attacking centre midfielder and a proper "good enough" striker. We've lost Buchel but we can only play one keeper
Jody has brought in Zerafa (left back?) and Vose (who looks a Beautyman type of player - and good enough) , and now Jeffrey who could be the striker ( For years we've played strikers as wide men, its my bug bear) . The side we have now is very different to the one in December but it doesn't have to be. We now seem to have more left wingers than the labour party conference.
Jody has come in and chosen to make loads of changes, big, big gamble but he might just pull it off and if he does get them getting results, next season could be decent when he gets a whole summer to bring in who he wants.
Henly Williams, Fyfield, Bush, Jefford Corne, Gallagher, Fagan/Healy, Vose, (or Healy/Fagan, Zerafa, Harris, Ouani and probably a few others i've forgotten about) Jeffrey, Vine
That's not too dissimilar than what we had before Day, Marsh and Beautyman went... Jeffrey could be very good and Vine is the old head with a touch of class we needed. Vose looks like he has an engine and is positive and can play through teams. (With all the other players coming in and playing) We do seem to have made a lot of changes we didn't need , but thats why Jody gets paid to manage. Me, i'd have kept what we had and filled in the gaps and have the new players not mentioned above as back up and off the bench, keeping the team spirit and continuity going.

If we are playing this keep ball stuff then Corne and Healy should both be a must in midfield.
Fyfield has probably been our best player this season but should play centre half for me. If Jefford is not fit then this Zerafa bloke at left back? Or hopefully when Faz is also in the reckoning we could play Barney at left back where he has rarely let us down. Two things still worry me - one is the goalkeeper and the other is the lack of goals. Looking into the Wingnut crystal ball I would pick the following for Saturday
Henly
Williams Fagan Fyfield Jefford/Zerafa
Corne Gallagher
Jeffrey Vose Healy
Vine
4-2-3-1 which seems to be trendy formation these days or 4-4-2 with Jeffrey up top and Healy and Vose in the wide midfield roles. Also the captain needs to step up his game (and stay on the pitch) as I have not seen enough from him this season.
Harsh on Bassele maybe but not enough end product for me. Hopefully another striker to add in the mix as I can't see Vine playing the full ninety at the moment especially if he plays up front on his own.

Decent shout but with the way Jody likes to pass it i would play Jeffrey up front with his pace and Vine wide or behind as he has the brain to pick a pass and link up with runners if we are playing one up top. Two up top Jeffrey and Vine as you say could work too. We seem to agree on using the players we already had (plus Vine/Jeffrey and Vose to replace Marsh and Beautyman etc), until the uncertainty when Day was going etc they were playing well , just lacked a finisher and some cover.
Have we still got Carmichael?

Bit of information regarding Anthony Jeffery's pace. Yep is is pretty quick for a footballer having run 11.0 for 100m at 16 year old, when finishing respectable 5th in English School's Final. Even better when you consider that he was at Arsenal for many years, and wouldn't have been doing proper sprint training. BACK TO FOOTBALL! I'm still unsure how the CF position will be filled as Jeffrey tended to play more as a winger to utilise his pace. Anyway the key for anyone with pace is knowing how/ when to use it (hopefully not a problem with his footballing pedigree) and having players around him that know how to maximise his movement. I think Vose will help with that :=)
