...... and thereby hangs a tail.  Our manager goes to Ebbsfleet - no wins since.  Exec lounge bar, more water in your scotch sir - so ffing embarrassing - water streaming through the ceiling and the young lass behind the bar trying to dodge it. Not good enough, and, so far, not good enough on the pitch either although, not without effort.

Are you offering to fund the repairs? If so I'm sure the club would be delighted to take you up on it.

No I am not. I pay for my exec lounge ticket and bung a fiver in the boost the budget bucket as well as contributing a monthly sum. Is it really too much to ask that the exec lounge is leak free ( oh, and stocked with spirits  ie, Scotch without the water).  What an advertisement for our club

Not wingeing.  Is it wingeing to expect a leak-free service in a bar for which you subscribe an exec lounge price?  Is it wingeing to expect a number of spirits on display rather than gaps, in a bar for which you pay a premium rate?  Is wingeing to expect our regular sponsors to have a well-stocked bar without leaks?  Ok, forget it - goodbye Wings after 38 years.

It was well stocked with ale, although not by the end of the day....

Yes it was -a good move to pour the pints and serve in a large jug.  Spirits, though, were at a premium.

JGfc suggested "winging in the rain" after Omerta's comments. Guess he meant "wingeing"?

Incidentally, JGfc is also responsible for my absence from this forum, after he accused me of similar a few weeks back, he listed all my comments  which were angled to be constructive criticism, as complaints, never mentioned the positives I had also made. He must catalogue every entry here for future use, reminds me of the school bully with his 11000+ entries! Anyway, he may be responsible for losing Omerta (38 years support) and myself (32 years). I sincerely hope Jody Brown turns this dismal run around, but I shall be watching from the comfort of my armchair. Oh and I understand the real ale was lacking again in the Sports bar after yesterdays match, I wasn't there but there's another for you JGfc!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure there was ale. I seem to remember my dad drinking bottles of doom bar after the game. It's difficult for the bar as they don't get a huge amount of custom in the week so a 2nd barrel of ale may end up wasted.

Bertie did you tell anyone at the club about the leak? I keep saying it but I have no idea why people come on here to complain about such things. Either speak to Barry/Barrie or phone the club. Is it possible that they don't know about it? Doing that instead of complaining on here is more likely to result in it being resolved.

stopping suppirting a club because of a leak and no spirits seems tad drastic and only shows that he goes to drink rather than support the club....any club with initials A A for him to support?

On Saturday, Marcus said that after the Alfreton game they had to chuck half a barrel away which is over £100 down the drain (literally). Therefore, can anyone be surprised that only one barrel was ordered this week?

Hi guys,

In answer to your queries, we had 2 barrels of real ale for the Saturday, in the previous matches we were only selling roughly 1.5 casks which is a lot of wastage and I'm sure you'll agree that there is nothing worse than throwing away good beer... We also always have the back up of the bottle ale.

Similar for the scotch, we had a large group drinking bells and sold a lot more than what we would normally there was alternative whiskies on offer and just because it's not on display doesn't mean the bar staff upstairs can't make it for you.

We are liasing with the club regards to the leaks but have been told the roof needs to dry out before any repairs can be done.

If anyone has any specific requests for any products then you can contact the bar team directly through the Facebook or Twitter pages or email wingswelling@gmail.com and if we can accommodate then we will.

Regards

Marcus

Well done to Marcus for coming on and explaining to those fans affected.

Seems a problem with the Real Ale for the owners of the bar, not enough business for 2 casks and more than 1 so you either lose £100 or have a few people unhappy they cannot get a drink...

Could always get 1 cask and a polypin guest beer a week or get some of the plastic beer flagons and knock it out the half a cask on the 2nd one as take outs from 5:30pm to reduce wastage?

Very good suggestion that to offer Ale to take away on Matchdays.
