They aren't all down to refs but we are getting some poor decisions which make our lack of killing off teams and our defensive **** ups worse. We should be mid table on the way we are playing. We went defensive today when Vose was subbed after we were the better team. Its a soft pen (Has Bush fouled him? harsh, he goes down easy... but you've seen them given) but if you are giving a soft pen why not give the free kick or the hand ball especially as its in injury time?

fair enough. and unfortunately i didnt go today. but the games ive been to there have been some strange tactical decisions! i for one really dont want us to go down because i dont see us getting back up. ive also been to other conference games and the total standard of refereeing in this league is a joke. whoever is doing the assesing is obviously not up to it because there doesnt seem to be any improvement with the referees. but we havent lost 6 in a row just because of the referees!!

They will still see Fyfield fouled in the box 5 seconds before they got a pen. May have been a handball too.  Cannot argue with the pen but what TF where the ref and lino watching that they let Fyfield get pushed in the box.

I thought Fyfield was fouled too.

Whether or not the referee missed a foul on Fyfield. in my view the main reason we lost a game that we should have won was the manager's decisions on substitutions.  The starting eleven were well in control of the game when the substitutions began. No one appeared to be tiring, so why not leave well alone?  Why were Fagan and Vose two of the players taken off?  Both had had very good games.

I believe that most of the players are good enough to get us out of trouble, but is the manager?

By the way, where was Barney today?

I didn't actually realise how soft that penalty was. Another crack pot decision from the ref

I think Barney must have been injured if he wasn't in the squad.

I can see a possible argument that getting a point after a run of losses is a morale booster but you have to get that point and we didn't.

This may be your only chance at this level Mr Brown. Grab the chance, be positive in what you do and die wondering what would have happened if you had taken the risk. The players wont believe unless you do and demonstrate it!

Having seen the video,1) When seconds remaining, why not just give the ball a big boot upfield preferably into touch instead of playing it across the penalty area and 2) do not commit yourself especially when the forward is facing away from goal!

Basic arts of defending!

Goal of the season so far by Dom today. Fantastic player, only wants to get us forward and sensible enough to come out and bring others in.

I wasn't at the game yesterday but listened to BBC Radio Surrey commentary. One of their comments was that Welling must be in a false league position because we were dominating the game. It did sound that way. But I had the feeling, would we score? And could we stop them scoring? Listening to the amount of possession we had we should of been going in at half time comfortably 2-0 up. Instead in the end we were holding out for a draw. Lack of goals at one end coupled with stupid mistakes and bad defending are killing us. Nice possession football is one thing but if you want to win these games you can't have that combination.

I think it's time we stopped blaming referees and everyone else for losing games. Reading the Aldershot programme yesterday there were references to them deserving to get something out of games they lost and I'm sure if you look at Telford, Nuneaton, Alfreton etc they will all be saying the same and all bemoaning refereeing decisions. There is no conspiracy by referees against Welling and if anyone really thinks there is then they really need to think about what they are saying. Some of the decisions may be harsh but the referee gets one chance and doesn't have the benefit of watching it on video after the game. The officials may be poor but they are presumably poor week in week out and not just when they ref or run the line against Welling. We keep giving away penalties (and I thought yesterday's was soft but correct) and we keep having players sent off. I'm sure I wasn't the only person standing there yesterday as the game went on fearing the worst. I took no positives out of yesterday's performance. We were easily the better team and lost. We can play nice possession football and look pretty threatening going forward but if we don't start scoring more goals than the opposition or stop the opposition scoring more goals than we do then we will go down, even though I'm sure there are 4 worse teams in the league.

I listened to the commentary too and heard the comments about Welling looking much better than a team in the relegation area. Vose was a different class and it was suggested he came off because of tiredness? We could do with a scruffy win to get some confidence back. At least we didn't have anyone sent off.

Can't comment on a game I wasn't at and haven't listened to the interview yet. However, having read the NLP, it seems we were the better team and another calamitous mistake has cost us. The manager was not happy with how we conceded the winner - if that is the case then don't pick the culprit then!

He cost us one (or more) points at Macclesfield with some dozy defending and another point on Saturday. With all the furore surrounding our "captain" in recent weeks the contribution (or rather lack of it) from Mr Bush has been largely overlooked. Two deserved red cards for cowardly off the ball attacks on opposition players and now two bits of schoolboy defending in the last two weeks.

I repeat that we had our best spell this season with Fyfield and Fagan at centre half and now we are conceding (stupid) goals left, right and centre.

It seemed strange to sign a defender on loan and not use him, especially with no game next week. Instead we go with the same combination that have given away plenty of goals for the last three games.
