I think we need to get some perspective on the last two seasons. When we got promoted it was deemed a miracle and we were to be truthful punching well above our weight. We've had the smallest budget by a country mile. Every victory we've got in this league has been a giant killing, and to get near mid-table last year as opposed to being nailed to the bottom was quite unbelievable. I don't like saying this but IF we do go down it will not be the end of the world. It will not kill the club financially as travel expenditures will be down and there'll plenty of local derbies to look forward to. If we keep the core of the squad plus the long term injuries that will be back we'll be in with a shout of bouncing back.
However I still believe the lads have got the quality to get us out of the league. It's worth noting that one thing that attracts players to this club is that we give them the opportunity to showcase their skills and prove that they can play at this level and above. If a club comes in for them, we won't stand in their way. We've now had several players, Harry Beautyman being the most recent, making a successful step up to the league. The players have now got ten games to push themselves to the limit and show what they can do. If not for the club, then at least for themselves and their own careers.
Meanwhile we've got to keep backing the club and the lads through thick and thin. Whatever will be will be, whether it Eastborne or Grimsby. Que sera sera.
Careful I got got called a troll by saying the same sort things about going down
Poor decision to go in like that and gave a very poor referee the chance to send him off once the Altrincham players surrounded him like a mob. When will this be treated the same as the games other scourge of diving?
I think some refs are 70/30 (give or take) on certain decisions when thinking about getting the cards out, you can tell this by the time it takes them to get the cards out. When players, especially captains, jump in and surround the ref I'm in no doubt it influences their decision. Ref's won't agree but I've seen it so many times over the years.

I have been critical of this referee (though we have had worse) on a couple of occasions this season, but on Sunday I think he had a reasonable game. It was a poor tackle, and to be fair to the referee (who will no doubt have been aware that he had sent off three of our players before - justifiably at Southport, but Brodie should have also gone for the initial challenge on Jamie Turner) he brought his assistants in for their view. From where I was there appeared to be a "nod of reluctance" in Joe's direction as as he sent him off.
