Big day today with Alfreton having a home game today and Tuesday, and Southport a very winnable game versus Dartford.
Need a point minimum. Very do-able too given Barnet's recent form and having a CB suspended.
Initial thoughts when I heard they had a CB suspended were "I hope it's David Stephens". Sure enough... The guy is an absolute colossus so will be a big miss for them. COYW
I'm not there today but I've been to enough, under Day, Brown and Faz.
I'm amazed a player we brought back in on loan recently has started every game on the bench, whilst one that hasn't performed all season has started every game since the management change, and not even been subbed.
Also, a prime disciplinary and penalty offender is suddenly flavour of the day again, and has let his team-mates down again today.
Disappointing afternoon, but this is a game we'd have expected nothing from. I just hope this doesn't have an effect on future games where we need everyone positive and on form, and crucially, available for selection!
When I saw today's team, I was puzzled to see Bush at centre back instead of Fagan. Unless Fagan isn't fully fit, I can't understand why Bush would be in the starting 11.
How does a "striker" that hasn't scored a league goal all season play a full 90minutes three away games running?
A poor show today as well as a poor result. Doesn't seem like we gave up according to the radio commentary, but few efforts on goal, and 5-0 never fills you with hope. Little fight it seems. Anyway, onwards and upwards. Massive game next week now. Must win. Literally.

Was always going to be a tough game today. Down to ten men against an in-form 2nd placed side it was pretty obvious the final score wasn't going to look pretty.
On the plus side Alfreton are still within catching distance, and we've still got to play them. Hopefully the guy's can dust themselves off, and hit training in the week with the confidence that got us a result against Lincoln.
What are we doing that other teams aren't as far as red cards are concerned. We've had three managers this season. Not one of them can stop the red cards Happening

Was Aldershot at home a Kent Cup match?
Arr. He has one then. The commentators on BBC Radio Kent said his only goals were in the Trophy. It's easy to fall into that trap given his goal return. The wider point being he doesn't score goals, nor create many, so why is he playing? I'd play Bass ahead of him as I'm sure most would.

First things first Barnet are a very decent side. Strong through the spine of their team, pace out wide and good set piece delivery as well. Having said that we looked frightened of them on Saturday and our first half performance was abject. The second goal is the sort of goal you see over Danson Park on a Sunday morning and then followed by the almost obligatory idiotic challenge, red card, penalty and game over (although in truth the game looked over from the first whistle)
Credit to Henly who was not to blame for any of the goals and made a couple of decent saves. The full backs/wing backs tried hard as did the two in midfield Corne and Gallagher who never threw the towel in. Having said that I think anyone on this forum could have played centre half for Barnet on Saturday from the first minute and would not even have broken sweat.
We have seven games left and things look grim to say the least. However let us at least play as a team and put up a fight (not literally) in all of those seven games and see where that leaves us.
It all does look a bit grim at the moment especially as I suspect +50 point will be needed for survival, as last season. It will also be essential to win the last 4 matches against teams who are, or who might be near the bottom zone. So we need some points from the next three against teams nearer the top of the table. A big ask, but we'll have to keep the faith and drive them on to a win on Saturday.
I thought Barnet reminded me a bit of Luton last season, in the fact they looked much better than any other team I've seen this season. Big and strong throughout the team, it really was men v boys.
Getting points at Barnet would have been a bonus, but I don't think anyone would have expected anything from the game. We now move onto the Grimsby on Saturday, another tough one but would hope for a bit of a bounce back from Saturday's drubbing.
Could really do with Dartford getting something at Alfreton tomorrow.
Alfreton's next four after that are Barnet (h), Wrexham (a), Grimsby (h) and Eastleigh (a). That looks a tough run.
So long as Welling are within six points of Alfreton with two games to play there's a chance. Especially with Alfreton going to Bristol Rovers on the final day.
