They had a horrendous amount of injuries, but as with Brown coming in to Welling, wholesale changes in management, tactics, players, etc all at once mid-season is not a good move in the long run.
No surprises given the money spent and the failure to get into the play offs.
Not only missing out on the play-offs but also how far off the play-offs they are. Writing on wall, I suppose, after announcement of 4 players' contracts acceptance yesterday.
Should mean we keep more of our players providing we stay up, loads of runmors of agreements to join ebbsfleet which surely won't be the case now. I wouldn't offer day the job here either, faz has come in and done a great job and deserves the job full time.
Well! I am surprised. Never thought that would happen. I guess working with young hungry players who bought into his methods was easy. Trying to get a tune out of overpaid mercenaries who chase the pound note is another thing. Those players should be ashamed of themselves. He should of waited for a league 2 job to come up. Mr Devonshire waiting in the wings me thinks. At least Welling made a few bob from this debacle.
sad for him. obviously sold a dream, but probably always gonna happen with crazy foreign owners chucking money away, jamie shouldnt be too sad, imagine he's got a nice pay off and like someone said, he wont be out of work for long!
If we stay up I would be tempted to see if Tyrone Marsh wanted to resurrect his career and I wonder if any of Day's team would fancy assisting Faz, if he got the job on a permanent basis.

As i read it, they asked him to terminate his contract...doesn't that mean no pay off???
I don't know what Jamie's domestic circumstances were or how much Ebbsfleet were paying him but still couldn't understand why he left, when it was clearly an all or nothing gamble. Had he stayed a few more weeks, he would have been in with a shout of the Gillingham job.
I want to feel sorry for Jamie but can't as he's got nobody to blame but himself. And with the manner in which he left (based on what Barry said in the W.I.E interview), and swiping some of our key players, I'd be surprised if the club would have him back in any capacity.

Faz deserves it BUT with help...I cant help but think he doesnt have the contacts!....we are playing with loads of loan players...we will need to build from scratch to compete whatever league we are in...more so in the National
Whilst on the subject of Jody. When everyone was calling for Jody to be sacked, I was reluctant to do the same at the time as I couldn't see how anyone else could perform the miracle to get us to survival. I'm pleased to say, regardless of what happens Saturday, that Loui (who I wanted as Jamie's replacement in the first place), has proven me wrong spectacularly, and I now feel like an absolute tit for my pro-Jody comments prior to his sacking.

Agree... Faz and his staff will have a huge task in building a squad for next season no matter what league we are in. He`ll have the smallest budget in the Vanarama National and one of the smallest in the Vanarama South too. Has he got the contacts?? That was one of the questions asked when Jamie Day joined us 5 years ago. He didnt do too bad did he.
So they appointed a guy presumably because they admired the job he did over five years at Welling, steadily improving each year. And they gave him five months?

notice to terminate his contract. not sure thats means sack yourself lol.
Heard he was on a rolling 1 year deal, notice to terminate would indicate he is getting a pay off, who would agree to leave a well paid job with no compo?
I bet he regrets it now, serves him right for dropping down a division thinking it'll be all roses.
I just hope he does NOT come back as Welling manager. If he comes back, nothing stops him from leaving again and taking some of our players with him (again)
A terrible shame. If he had stayed with us, and kept us up, he could have gone wherever he wanted - and we are talking league clubs. He did wonders for us on little resources and when the very future of the club was unsure. Let us not forget this. Also, but for his earlier results, we would have been down now despite the best efforts of Faz. However, he left us and took Tyrone. I guess our loss will be the gain of either Dartford, Bromley or Margate.
If Jody Brown thinks Jamie is getting 'hammered' on here then he's not reading it properly. Apart from maybe one comment most of the discussion is about Ebbsfleet as a club. I'm certainly not gloating and I'm sure Jamie will bounce back pretty soon. I didn't like him going, taking a few players and leaving the squad a bit thin but I'll forgive him all that for what he did for the club as player then as a manager. Two years exactly on Monday this week when we won the league at Boreham Wood.

The brother of the guy I went to the Trophy game with sponsored the game so I was able to go in the executive portacabin at half time and full time. Whilst it was difficult to be balanced in the prevailing circumstances, I basically said to them that if they gave him 18 months I was confident he'd get them up but this season, where Bromley, Borehamwood, Basingstoke etc all had settled teams and several of the contender clubs were not short of a penny or two, they were at best 50/50.
Now I don't know if they were all 'on message' or they genuinely believed this but the prevailing attitude was that it had to be this season. Apparently they know jack and whether I would have been right they and I will never know.
I am grateful for what he did at Welling but not particularly for the way he handled his departure. Whether he should come back is academic now Faz has the job. However, by the end, he looked frustrated and fatigued by the lack of budget. That hasn't changed and I doubt his enthusiasm for it would have either. I suspect he would be tailor made for Dartford if Burman wants to step aside.
If I am honest, I'm glad it went tits up for Ebbsfleet this season as I think their hierarchy need to learn a little humility to succeed. Ongoing animosity towards Daisy, none. The only time I won't be hoping he is a success is if we are still in the National and competing with him to stay out of the bottom four or he is at Dartford.

Can't really feel any animosity towards Daisy after the five years he gave us. He may have left on better terms but he was always going to leave at some point. I think he made the mistake of changing too much too quickly - he had a squad in the play off positions when he joined that need a few tweaks but ended up getting open heart surgery (a bit like another manager we all know and love....NOT!)
As for the powers that be at £bbsfl££t learning some humility I think you may be in for a long wait. These people throw money at things until they succeed and, if they don't, they throw more money at it until it does. They have no idea on how to run a football club but can't wait to fire the people they hire if they don't get instant success. Daisy knew that when he signed up and he has paid the price but I expect he will receive compensation of some sort to soften the blow.
I doubt he would come back to Welling anyway but that ship has now sailed - Captain Fazza is on the bridge now with first mates Mcentegart and Barnes and that is where we will hopefully move forward.
Not sure where he can go next. Bromley & Maidstone won't be changing manager after getting promoted and Dartford have confirmed there'll be no change there. He'll have to either drop down a division or two or travel (Braintree?)
Meanwhile we go onwards and upwards with Faz & his team
Although I did not like the way that the departure was handled, the reported attempt to take some of our players, or the way they celebrated knocking us out of a tournament they had never cared about previously, I cannot wish them ill. They gave us five great years including my happiest football day this century. They could have walked away when the club was in the depths of financial trouble but kept the players settled and improved season by season.
I hope that Jamie finds a new club quickly, and one that is more suited to his style of management.
One thing that I don't understand is that Peter Varney keeps identifying managers that, for one reason or another, do not succeed yet he keeps his job. How does that work?
Feel sorry for jamie and I hope he lands a decent job soon. If he doesn't the fickle world of football will forget his success at welling even if we don't. At the time I thought it was a backwards step and failure at a league 2 club would have looked better on his cv than failure at conference south.
A shame things did not work out for Jaimie, he was a great asset to WFC but I guess the prospect of a bigger budget & salary was too good an offer to turn down. He made his decision but obviously could not get the performance from the team that his predecessor managed, sounds familiar? That's all water under the bridge now - we have another great asset in Faz and his team, still early days but the team is playing together again, Saturday is critical of course but it's been a good end of season.
With so many league managers out of work I can't see them opting for a manager who just got dismissed at conf South level with a huge budget. He was great here but would they take the risk? Unlikely id have thought
