Delusional. Does he not remember shipping our best young players out on loan - two of whom went on to make a mockery of the decision by being our best performers once a competent manager came in - and replacing them with the likes of Darren Purse, Rowan Vine and Josef Zerafa?
The fact is that he didn't inspire either those players who were there before him, or those be brought in. They could see he was out lf his depth, as could every educated football person.
Grays actually had their good run when Glen Little went back. Unbeaten in around 15 games.
Have to say im surprised by the constant negativity toward an ex manager. Seems almost an obsession to some of you. Do people expect him to roll over and not defend himself? Come on, beautyman, marsh and Chambers had gone, Faz, Jefford and Healy were injured, and we had 4 tough games in a matter of days.
Seems he has done ok as a manager at 5 or 6 other clubs, and has a good coaching cv. He's young, it didn't work out, but speaking to people, the likelihood is that he will develop and do well in the game. Time to drop it, results were bad, but fact is he signed Harris, Vose, Osbourne, Berry, Williams, and they all did well. Purse not so well, and the others were just squad players. When he had those players we were very unlucky in 3 or 4 games. Jeffrey would have done well too I think.
He spent no money that we know of, and presumably we got money for the only contracted player he added in Vose. If I recall correctly, Sam Corne started the first few games but didn't do that well. I'm pretty sure he didn't loan him out, I think he got injured. Penny and Hudson were loaned out, and Faz hasn't signed either which tells a story. Jefford probably should have been kept, but I think he was injured most of the time too.
Results were bad, slating fans was stupid, but let's judge how we do without those players, cause they all made a real impact in my opinion. And it can't be forgotten that we didn't win for the 1st 9 or 10 games last year either (also exited FA cup & Trophy to ryman/conf south teams),and Jamie had had pre season.
Jamie went in to have a horror show at very powerful force in league below. Sometimes things just don't work out.
Time to move on. It's becoming laughable how quick we are to jump on his every word.

Fair enough. I hope we can keep Anthony Jeffrey. Vose was an exceptional player and, obviously, Wrexham has recogised that. It is a shame that Sam Berry lives so far away - would have been great if we could have kept him. I really do not understand why Sheffield United released him, I thought he looked a tremendous prospect and worked hard for us.

Jody Brown tried to send Sam Corne out on loan but Sam didn't want to go prefering to fight for his place, two of the matches he did play under Brown, he was played out of position at right back. At Nuneaton he was told that the conditions wouldn't suit him and was left out completely. Roll forward a few weeks and we saw MOTM performances from an 18 year old rewarded with a 2 year contract. Brown tore the heart out of the team by bringing players who were no better that what we had, exception being Vose who sometimes was superb other times not. Faza and his management team worked wonders to secure our place in the league. Those days are past now and in the past they must remain, let's get behind Faza and his new signings and look forward to the new season

So Berry, Osborne, and Jason Williams important goals didn't?
Results were poor. Being left out was perhaps the making of Sam Corne, as he's shown he can deal with a set back. Not all players can.
We are all behind the club and Faz, but in supporting one we don't need to continually dig at another. Time will tell who was right, Brown had no pre season and didn't know the squad. Faz has all of that, so let's hope he gets it right. Or just like when we didn't win for our first 9 or 10 last season, we will have to ask questions.
But we could always blame somebody else for that too.

Time has already told who was right. We wouldn't have stayed in this division with Brown in charge.

Quality stuff this!
Where shall I start........
"Being left out was the making of Sam Corne........" Of course playing him (in the right position) might have been a better approach
"Brown had no pre season and didn't know the squad....." That is generally the case when you change manager's mid season. Didn't know the squad but as you have already said left one of our best players out of the team and replaced two or three others with journeymen who were useless and took us backwards.
Everyone's in agreement that results were very bad, but honest people realise that all this wasn't one mans fault. We were left in a mess by Day. Not really sure who these journeymen you mention were? Purse didn't work out, but from what I see the others did.
I think your argument is pretty weak, and just comes across as bitter.
He didn't win games, but it was clear that we were in all but 2 or 3 of then until the death. He's paid the penalty by losing his job. Faz and more importantly the players kept us up, but couldn't beat Alfreton or Southport when it mattered. So I'm not sure anyone performed any miracles.
Keep dragging us back to there and suggesting he did no good just makes you look blinkered. Are you still upset that he called you 'uneducated'?
LOL move on.
Has Jake Gallagher signed yet? Cause otherwise it looks like every experienced player we have is moving on? That's far more important than criticising a manager that left 3 or 4 months ago.

I should be biting my tongue but this stuff is just too good!
I agree with you (shock horror!) that Day didn't leave us in a good position.
Purse "didn't work out" is the understatement of the season and have you forgotten Vine and Duguid who were no better (but more than likely more expensive) than the people they replaced??
We were in games until the death but we didn't win (or even draw) very many of them did we?? There was some bad luck and some individual mistakes but the general attitude and surliness of the manager was not what was required at that time, alienated the supporters and added to the general bad feeling around the club at that time.
We drew with Alfreton with ten men for 75 minutes and were unlucky not to win the game. We started well against Southport and could have been a couple ahead but by half time the result was immaterial.
Thank you for you continued interest in our club Mrs Brown
Time to move on perhaps, last season was a roller coaster ride and whilst we may have looked "safe" when Day left, and whilst Brown may not have fitted in to the Welling set up; the numerous red cards also had an impact. We were top of the red card table which not only meant playing a lot of the pitch time with only 10 men, the resulting suspensions limited team selection at a critical time. I do think Faz and Co managed to restore the team spirit / ethic, even if it all went down to the wire. Looking forward the new team is coming together we know Faz has a limited budget and training is only part-time so expectations have to be equally realistic. Middle third of the table and a good run in the cup competitions would certainly see me rushing to renew the season ticket for 16/17! Or am I expecting too much?
Think it was well documented that Vine took zero money. Your very much in the know, but actually know little fact. I agree with last post, there were many factors, but results were bad the manager went and we stayed up. So it's positive now, and all I keep saying is to move on. Wingnut your correct if am mrs Brown, afterall I must be, why else would I have a balanced opinion?
Based on that logic, I'll assume your a disgruntled Parent.
I'll drop it, as the forum bullies are out again. Just giving an opinion. Look forward to pre season and watching the teams progress.
Doesn't matter to me if Vine was getting paid nothing, bundles or even paying us. You don't get a forward in who is not match fit when in a relegation battle. Penny was a better option.
I just find it very surprising that someone that has never posted suddenly has so much to say, and that some of it is either negative in general, or defending Brown.
A lot of "obvious" things like Vine not claiming money, might be obvious to a hardcore fan or "someone in the know" but certainly wouldn't be obvious to a Layman, casual supporter or someone who, as a FirstTimePoster that no-one knows, might be assumed not to be a hardened fan. You could have attended every game this last season for all I know, but I think it fair to assume that you didn't.
Most Welling fans would indeed rather move on. We will have a difficult task again next season and positivity is the best way forward, but fact remains if the conversation must be dragged back to the past, by yourself or anyone else, most people won't have many kind words to say about the ex-manager sadly. He doesn't deserve to have his life ruined or be personally insulted, but it didn't work out with us. Everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, but if you therefore post something in defence of him, having never posted before, its likely people will jump to conclusions.
Faz is the way forward, like it or not, so let's back him and the team and look forward to the new season. I miss my football already and can't wait for it to start again.
COYWs.

Fair enough. Think the username made it fairly clear that I was a new poster. However, I think it's also clear that I don't think Jody Brown was the devil reincarnated. I've agreed with many of the negatives, and also been very positive about the likes of Sam Corne. The fact that I don't agree with every negative aimed at him and Little doesn't make me his wife.
Faz and the team stayed up and have had lots of credit. They now have chance to build and prepare their own team from scratch. So presumably they'll do much better than last season, where it clear the majority on here think they inherited a mess. Whereas I think it'll be a test to replace the players lost, and get the sane quality from the loan market.
Time will tell, but it's not a forum crime to defend sone elements of the previous regime, even though they failed to win matches.
Keep dragging us back to there and suggesting he did no good just makes you look blinkered. Are you still upset that he called you 'uneducated'? LOL move on.
Look at the original post in the thread and see who dragged us back onto the subject again this week. Tell your educated son he's the one who needs to move on.
