I wonder whether it is worth the club considering a discount entry card to be shown at the turnstiles? It would be ideal for those people who cannot afford to pay for a full season ticket but who would wish to benefit from a cheaper entrance scheme.  Perhaps £30 to £50 upfront with spectator entrance reduced by a few quid each time on production of the card, provided there are recognisable savings. Perhaps a family card on the same basis with reductions for accompanying spouse and children aged over 12?

Also, such a card could be one of the benefits of WUSA membership - the details would have to be negotiated with the Board.

Isn't that a season ticket in essence.....that could be a 5 or 10 match ticket....

I don't want to come over as being negative, but that could cause big problems on busy days with the turnstyle staff having to deal with all sorts of different prices depending on who had what deal. A big club with lots of gates might be able to do it, but we don't have that luxury.

The atmosphere is much better when there is a big crowd in and I'm sure that any initiative that would get people in would be appreciated. Can I suggest that such ideas are sent directly to Barry? Even if 100% of the forum members were in favour of something, there is nothing we could do to make it happen.

It could be what you want it to be, Mark: a ticket for free entry to a specified number of matches; a season-long discount ticket; a ticket for fewer specified games at a bigger discount; or a ticket for group entry for a specified number of games.

I suggested a 10 match ticket booklet a few years ago to the club when this system was introduced by Ebbsfleet with a per match cost approximately halfway between the one-off price and the season ticket cost divided by the number of league games.  This was not acted on but I think it would sell well as there are a good number of people unable to attend every game but who go to a fair number of matches in the course of a season.  It would cause no hold-ups at the gate as it merely means tearing a page out of a booklet.  It would also provide a good deal of money earlier in the season to the club than they would otherwise receive it.

It would be interesting to know how many season tickets have been sold for next season compared to last.

Things have moved on. Why not suggest it again?

We already have a turnstile entrance for season ticket holders only, why not use that for ticket books? Obviously, where cash is involved that could be a problem.  I gather a number of clubs have these sort of cards or flexi tickets but, as you suggest, they have a number of entrances.

The season ticket gate can get busy enough when someone turns up expecting a complimentary ticket and there is nothing there. I'm always there early (like you) but it may be busy enough approaching kick off, without further complications.

I know I've joined this discussion a bit late but as other's have already touched upon, this discount card will probably just cause unnecessary complications.

Plus based on the current season ticket prices, even if you missed nearly a third of the games you'd still save money compared to paying on a match by match basis.

A five match ticket doesn't sound too bad but the tricky balancing act with the pricing. Too low eg. £50 and it's not fair on season ticket holders but then say you do it aa five tickets for the price of four (£60) and it doesn't really seem worth it. Or does it?...
