Well I'll be the first to wish Faz,Matt,Paul and the players good luck today. Guiseley will be well up for it no doubt. Let's get at them early doors. Stay strong at the back. Don't get bullied and impose our game on them. Come On You Mighty Wings!

Looking forward to the season starting for real, pre season games aren't my favourite. 3 points a must to open our campaign on a positive!

COYW! I have to say the persistent grumbling and moaning from the commentators from Radio Leeds is becoming more comical than irritating now.

Excellent result. Should give the lads confidence as they continue to gel.

Commentators mentioned attendance of just 505 but with Charlton playing QPR, and other supporters still on holiday it wasn't as low as I thought it would be.

Great battling performance. Doesn't look good for Faz though. Hope I'm wrong but may be the finish of his playing days.

Loui Faz thinks he's torn his achillies. Really hoping he's wrong, guessing a scan next week will reveal all. If true it would be a real shame. I thought he had a cracking game today.

Well done to the boys today, a very battling performance.

Was gr8 to have football back again and was a good solid performance from the team I really liked the combo up top Adeyinka & Kabba a real beast of a man with a little speedster next to him it looks promising and we may have found a good partnership there. For me the guy who run the show though was Reece Harris the guy looked classy throughout and will surely be one of our star performers this season is maintains that display I thought our loyal fans behind the goal were in good form to and sung there hearts out keep it up lads good stuff COYW.

A battling performance in very hot weather, not sure that the 4-4-2 suited Welling, think that the 3 centre back system worked well last season and would like to see Zach Fagan in the team. Where was Harry Osborne by the way? Sorry to hear about Faz looked like a nasty injury so may need to enter the loan market or see who is out there. A very hard league to judge at this stage but looks like the benefactor teams have the edge.

Off topic but just a quick one:

I seem to recall that BT Sport said they would have a National League highlights show but I can't see it on any of the BT Sport channels listing for the next couple of days or on the BT Sport website.

Anyone know anything about this.

I'm very happy with WingsTv but it would be interesting to see highlights of the other games as well.

Harry Osbourne failed a late fitness test. Kojo Atotwei looked good at right wing back against maidstone. He may have to play a similar role

Overall I enjoyed the game. I thought the defence did reasonably well but still gifted the Guiseley forwards two gilt edge chances which they completely mullered. I really think Xavi Vidal is gonna worry some teams this season. His confidence is growing and I'm hoping he'll get even better. He was my M.O.M yesterday. He should have a free role IMO. Sahr Kabba deserves a mention too. Superb energy levels and willingness to run and run and a fox in the box goal. Obviously we'll have sterner tests this season starting Tuesday but a nice 3pts to start. A wins a win.

Great result to start the season and well done to all, including the fans that tried to raise the atmosphere on a pretty dull game. 3 points is all that matters though, sorry as well as injuries picked up. Hope all is not too bad Faz!
Personally, I thought Tash looked slow and did not win a header. If he can get energy levels anywhere near Kaba we could have a decent front line. Good to see Vidal come more into the game in the second half and a very good performance from Reece and Ben.

Difficult to make too many assessments after one game but grateful for a rather fortunate three points.

Credit to the back four and keeper for the clean sheet although Guiseley did miss a couple of very good chances. Corne and Vidal worked very hard all game but I fear against better teams we will get overrun and overpowered if we continue with just two in central midfield. Reece Harris showed up well first half but we had very little going forward in the second half. Kabba looked lively but Tash and the two subs need to offer a lot more than they did on Saturday (and please cut out the whining and throwing your arms about Mr Porter if things don't go your way...)

Worrying that Faz, Barney and Osborne all injured already giving us a paper thin squad after one game.

A hard-earned win against a team who have made the play-offs 5 years in a row...this may turn out to be a very good 3 points indeed!

This must be the first season in several years where we've won our first match. I think 08/09 was the last one, unless anyone else can remember differently?
