I've been listening online. BBC commentators have been praising Welling's play and movement but also said about where our goals will come from. I'm also worried about our leaking goals. Formation, experience, keeper? Needs sorting asap.
That's it in a nutshell. Where are our goals coming from? Our top goal scorer (kabba) isn't in the starting 11 most games. George Porter's a nice player but I don't see him scoring enough goals. We could be bottom 4 by the end of the day. Lost 2-0. Another backs to the wall display. No goal threat from us. No goals. No problem for the opposition. Means no points
1st half was all Welling and with a decent striker we would have been 3 up by HT. It's painfully obvious that we don't have a striker who can bang the ball in the net and it was obvious to Woking who played higher up the pitch in the 2nd half. With all due respect to the 2 strikers we had on the bench today, they are not up to this level and if they could be moved on asap, we could use the money to bring in a striker.
Another strange substitution taking Wellard off and replacing with Awotwi....with us losing 1-0, bringing on a striker should have been the priority.
Special mentions to George Porter who again ran his knackers off and Ben Jefford for a superb shift, in the first half his crossing was causing all sorts of problems and he threw himself in front of at least 3 Woking shots.
This post may seem negative as we did play very well in places, but goals win you games, and unless this is addressed, we will struggle this year.

They need to play kabba and Porter together. It worries me that we don't have a leader in the middle, and that average team's will nick goals.Without a threat up front or strength in the middle team's will see us as a soft touch. The performance against Braintree was a joke and why the subs, surely Porter and Vidal could have kept them busy?
Four away games, four defeats. Negative approach to all games.
Brilliant defensive performance at Wrexham. It had to be as we basically played defence versus attack through choice and our game plan seemed to be sit back and cross your fingers.
Today, knowing they had injuries to defenders Saturday we should have gone at them from the off when we did attack we put call after ball into the box, from the left only mind you, and there was no striker there to finish it. Their right back got done time and again their centre back and left back might was well have been on the beach.
I accept we won't have the strongest XI in the league on our budget but we're not making the most of what we do have, and in some respects are lucky to have been able to sign given our level, namely players from league clubs previously.
I'm starting to feel awfully sorry for certain players.
Jefford and Corne have run their nadgers off and Porter must think he's in marathon training the amount of running he's being asked to do with little or no support and/or goal opportunities. And he's the sort of player that will explode at some point and either quit or get sent off, that's when he isn't benched or subbed.
Lokko, Chambers and Osborne are all great centre halves but the constant three then four then three at the back does nothing to help them on their confidence or their teammates.
Wellard. Past it.
Harris, a wing back? What a waste. And on the right as well sometimes. madness.
Vidal, goes from holding midfielder early on to now playing off of one striker and seeing none of the ball. What a waste.
Lee, different class. But you can kiss him goodbye as he'll get the raving hump and go back to his parent club.
Kabba and Tash preferred front two opening game yet now don't get a look in. Signed so early in pre-season we were obviously really confident they were the men for the job they now clearly aren't. Who's accountable? Kabba named on bench Saturday not fit today. Pathetic.
Amd as for the naughty one. Sign the guy then don't even name him in your squad. Either a panic signing or a waste of money or both.
All on contract too. Who's idea was that.
Serious changes needed. Now.

I agree totally, Harris always looks dangerous going forward and the lack of shots is worrying, something has got to change or we will leave us an impossible task in the second half of the season. The Eastleigh performance should have been built on with a victory at home over Braintree.
It would be nice to at least know what's happened to Kabba.
I wasn't at the game so can't comment too much. From the stats alone it appears it wasn't a roll over and die performance, with the lads having more possession than Woking overall.
At the end of the day the players know they have the potential to perform at this level and higher. It's up to them to train hard, find that extra 10% and start translating these performances into goals and points.
I know it's easier said than done but let's try and stay positive and stick behind the lads.
I thought wellard was supposed to be the old head leader???
He may have an old head but he also has old shoulders and old legs. He's a tidy football player but not a Welling United player. For a club of our size in the conference we need effective counter attacking players. Wellard makes One Joe look like an Olympic sprinter.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh When the Wingssssss
From the comments above, and the comments last season, are we actually waiting for KSA to return, match fit!
I'll assume that's ironic given the overwhelming comments are about a lack of goal scoring threat, and KSA's goals in a Welling shirt can be counted on one hand.
Without wanting to overly criticise, how are Tash and Kabba the two men up front opening day versus Guiseley on 8th August, yet just 23 days later one can't even get off the bench when we are chasing the game? Indeed, neither would have got of the bench at Wrexham only 14 days into the season were it not for Vose scoring in the last minute.
Nortey Nortei played a blinder versus Greenwich Borough as a holding midfielder and then right-back, we then sign him knowing Barney and Faz were both out injured and Awotei was quoted after Maidstone as "not understanding wingback" by Faz, and then we don't use Nortei ... not even on the bench, having come on and done well away to Forest Green.
If he isn't up to it why sign him, and if he is (which I suspect he is), why isn't he playing.
Fagan, a mainstay in the side for Daisy, seems to now only be used as and when others are suspended or crippled. All our central midfielders are tidy on the ball, and all good players, but all too similar, and all 5 foot 8.
We were told that our team would be the fittest etc, etc, they are needing to be!
