Oh joy, after predicted heavy rain over the next few days and on saturday itself, stong wind speeds over 40mph are forecast from 3pm on Saturday. Lots of hoof predicted on a heavy pitch - and their 'keeper would seem to be able to kick the ball into the next county.
I would have thought we would have learnt from Grays. Lets not let the conditions get into our heads, it makes the supporters nervous and that will come across to the players.
Besides, I am pretty sure Barwell don't regularly play in 40mph winds so no advantage to anyone!
Conditions will be the same for all. Its the attitude you adopt in whatever the conditions that matters. Be stronger, faster, more alert,be first,be confident that's what will win the game. COYW.
So you post innocently that the conditions could be appalling. That wind speed could be excessive. That conditions could be muddy underfoot. Ergo, hoofball could be involved and there is a 'keeper who kicks long. Immediately you get shot down. I give up.
My biggest concern was a report in their local paper where they said they were hoping for a 2500 sell out. I would be a little miffed to get there and not get in. I'm hoping they were being somewhat optimistic

I believe they are being over-optimistic. Although they got an attendance of 800+ for the R&D cup tie, their average home attendance is circa 175....
I'd suggest they are not going to exceed the crowd number for the R&D tie, as for the conditions we should be better able to cope as we should be fitter, more accurate with short passes unaffected by the wind and have more technical no how. Note I said should. If we go out as we did against Grays in the first match, then we will struggle. We know they will start fully fired up so it will be a case of staying calm for the first 20, keep possession, go in at half time one up and put them to the sword in the second half. If only it will be that easy! Good luck lads, and well done to our travelling fans.
According to the BBC weather forecast, it will be raining in Barwell on Saturday from 6am - some of it heavy - until 4pm. It appears, however, that the wind speed will have dropped to 11 or 14 mph.

Did cross my mind too. Seems a long shot that they'd get anywhere even close to 2.5k. But would be nice to have ticket before setting off just in case. It'll be as cheap as any FA Cup proper match this season, and a big occasion for Barwell so you'd expect a lot of general football fans might be tempted by it. Leicester playing at home should be enough to prevent numbers from becoming crazy though.
Thought there was a rule in the cup that visiting fans must be allowed a certain percentage (15%?) of the ground. Not sure how that can be enforced when it is pay on the gate though.ross my mind too
The rule is up to 15%, I do not know if this includes 38 of the 256 seats that are available. I'm surprised that Welling were not allocated say 250 tickets to be sold pre match. Looking at the ground the seats are the only covered area and the area behind one goal looks like turf only. Seems to be part of a sports complex, do not know if there are any facilities open to away supporters.
Wouldn't it be in the right mind for Barwell to set aside 150 of the tickets they are planning to sell in an apparent "sell out" for the 2 welling united coaches and some of the train lot coming down so they will be guaranteed the ticket...no one mentioned this to the club if this is what they are expecting
For the record, we will be fielding a keeper who can kick the ball into the next county. That county just needs to be off the right or left touch lines! My only concern is that we have a number of young lads who have come down to our level rather than up and are inexperienced in the ways of lower non-league. If they turn up with the attitude of play this right, there may be a shop window in the next round, we should be ok. If not, it could e a long old afternoon!
