A very winnable tie. Carlisle 8th in the league and may have one eye on the league. Wont bring many fans across that distance I presume so could be a 90% of home fans. AT HOME most importantly. Lets not forget the fact that they have a 700 MILE ROUND TRIP. that could be a factor. Potential for an upset so may be a TV game. Persume Salford will have the Friday night again but a chance of that being a sunday. A very good chance. COYW
Carlisle will travel down a day or two before the match. Good to have a home game at this stage - for once. Given the usual ingredients for FA Cup TV coverage we must surely be one of the favourites - if one of the BBC favourites, such as Salford, gets picked again we should ask, reasonably, why?
They took 176 to Plymouth and its 64 miles less to Welling so they should bring a couple of hundred, although that may depend on what day and time it is.
We've got to be please with that. At last we are at home, first time we have got a home tie in 2nd round. We can do this, i hope the Beeb give us some air time!

Weren't we at home to Bath in the 80s when we lost?
If it's the Sat, I'd reckon 3/400, with a bit more notice would've been 500...
We've a fairly big London Branch who'll see this as a 'Home' tie almost!
Has to be in the running for TV though? Given the travel we do, I'm expecting the Mon Night slot! If it was Fri/Mon, would knock a few off numbers wise for obvious reasons!
'Only 176 to Plymouth' - Less than 2 weeks notice for a fixture we've already had midweek in the League in August, where we took similar! Equivalent to you lot playing in Edinburgh probably!
No we had Gateshead and Torquay midweek last season and play in a national league like you. we have Grimsby on Saturday and this will be our seventh away weekend in a row!

I think our Carlisle comrade has misread a post, far from belittling the number of Carlisle fans at Plymouth I am sure that the poster was impressed by the turnout for such a long distance.
I agree a win is on the cards, if we have the full team out. So do the management team "arrange" for those with a few yellow cards to pick up another, and serve their match ban, before the early December date?

Three live games on TV between over the weekend. The formula tends to be non-league at home to league.
Salford on TV again is a given.
Grimsby v Shrewsbury has been a regular league fixture over the years. Grimsby are arguably the bigger club. That fixture doesn't really offer up the possibility of the romantic old FA Cup cliché of the painters and decorators turning over the pros that they tend to look for.
Before any first round replays are completed, Welling v Carlisle looks a good bet for the TV.
As Northampton are on the brink, they might see an upset at their game against Boreham or Northwich. They might also decide they'd like to chuck a few quid Northampton's way.
Bradford v Chesham could be a pick after Bradford's exploits last year, and Chesham's this.
Looking good, though. Even if that could mean a Friday or Monday night.

Salford are 100% going to be on TV but I expect BT Sport to get them this time so that will probably be the Monday game. Grimsby vs Shrewbury is guaranteed I think as there is a chance of an upset and Grimsby will most likely fill their ground which looks great on TV.
That leaves one game and I definitely think we are in with a shout of TV as BBC/BT are going crazy for non league upsets at the mo(and there were a lot in the 1st round) but I suspect we won't be picked. I hope the game is Friday or Saturday though as I can't do the Sunday/Monday that weekend.
Does anyone know when the TV games will be announced?
Can we give the Carlisle fans just the one side, the cricket ground side with the new stand if the match is segregated? There are, or were, metal gates at each end. Also, it will give the Wings fans the areas behind both goals and ensure that we can prevent some of our new-found idiots from annoying our friends from Carlisle for whom we would wish a warm welcome and enjoyable day (apart from the result).
also aren't Erith playing on that Saturday? Surely we get priority over their league game.....
You would think so, but Grays had to shift their game with us to the Sunday because Aveley (whose ground they share) had a home game with Witham on the Saturday. Sometimes a mutual rearrangement is possible without the FA having to be involved.

Most viewers will think that Grimsby v Shrewsbury is still a tie between two football league clubs so where is the romance of the cup in that?
Why is Salford on live again a given - yes they are at home again to a league club but they have had their live game and more than their fair share of publicity in recent weeks so the wonga should be shared around a bit between other clubs. Going back there again (to a club who hardly needs any more publicity) would be wrong and downright lazy.
As others have suggested we should make the Sunday highlights package (12.5k if I recall) and maybe an outside squeak at a live game...??
I am guessing because television tends to love a bit of Manchester United as they boost ratings. You know the last FA Cup match Manchester United played that wasn't shown live on either the BBC, ITV or Sky was back in 2004? And they haven't even won it, in that time, or even made a final for eight years. As there is no Man Utd until the third round, the thousands of armchair Man Utd fans are more likely to tune in to watch Salford than any other team (with the exception of FCUM) in these rounds. The majority will watch Gary Neville and Paul Scholes bounce up and down on a grass bank before they watch Welling, Grimsby or Chesham.
The Beeb are based in Salford which makes a home tie at Salford FC convenient and presumably cheaper to cover for them. If they do pull back realising that they're starting to overdo the 'Class of 92' Salford story, then BT Sport will probably pick them and let all the publicity Salford have had boost their ratings instead.
Not saying I think Salford should be on. It'd be nice if they weren't. But I'd be amazed if they aren't shown by either channel with the tie also filling the classic criteria of lowly non-leaguers on the up at home to struggling league club looking low on confidence.
I think Gainsborough v Shrewsbury was on 5LIve on Sunday too? Welling will get some good media coverage out of this tie one way or another.

Just to add my halfpenny worth, I can't see us being in with a shout of TV coverage.
Analysing the draw, (FC United are out by the way oohahh) IMO Welling currently stand at joint 9th in the league of potential upsets, ie the differentials in league status'. Wings could move up to joint 6th if replays all go in favour of league teams. Also, BBC make no mention of Wings in their draw report, so I doubt they are in mind there. Then there are the romantic historical ties such as Pompey v Accy Stanley to consider, then the tie with potentially the biggest prize as one of Stourbridge and Eastleigh is guaranteed to be in the hat for the third round!
BT National League supporters, our only hope IMO, especially if they were treated well and happy with the last visit v Tranmere.
Pencil in Tuesday 15th December for a replay at Brunton Park, it appears replays happen in the mid-week after from round 1 proper, Police require one weeks notice of potential big games in town? Should be some good deals by train as Carlisle are sponsored by Virgin trains, otherwise by road, a good day out for the Eddie Stobart spotters who sponsored their shirts for 19 years!!
More important for now though is tonight, hopefully FGR have Braintree or Oxford more on their minds than our lads have on Carlisle? C'mon you Wings!
I know FCUM out. I had it on the radio. Was just saying they are currently one of the two clubs that hordes of Man Utd will tune in to watch in the early rounds of the FA Cup if a television compamny gets the chance to show their game (some I think are against FCUM and wouldn't, but those interested enough to watch on TV will still outweigh those who will watch most other teams who might be involved at this stage). Their exit shifts all that focus to Salford. It ought not be a factor in an ideal world, but television has to put its ratings first.
On a well known media forum, the posters think that Welling have a good chance of having their tie being televised behind Salford.
The problem with BT Sport having the Salford game is co-owner Gary Neville who is a pundit for Sky Sports. The latter may not be happy that one of their top men appearing on a rival channel!
