So Grimsby was a good performance, Forest Green was a good performance, Barwell wasn't bad and now people are talking about sacking managers after one (admittedly poor) performance. I think a degree of perspective is required. As for being amateur the one comment I would make is that I would have thought it made sense to sell Carlisle tickets in the club shop outside the ground, as the office is hardly ideal if there's a number of people waiting to buy. I hear they are selling well though.

I think it is the Cup matches that are losing us league points lately - good players want their spot in the limelight and the shop window and are probably anxious about bookings, red cards and injuries, and, putting youselves into that situation, who can blame them? I  just hope that on the big day against Carlisle the team turns up and does not freeze  - they owe that to themselves and to us.  Meanwhile, Lincoln up next  - time for KSA and larger units to play ahead of flair players who should be used sparingly.

It really does anger me seeing people slagging off the management team. What do we realistically expect them to do?

- How often will a club of our size and stature find a 15-20+ goal a year striker? Even if we are lucky enough we will likely lose them very quickly.
- I wasn't there on Saturday, but I get the impression many of the players have off days, it happens. From the interview they gave it clearly shows they will be telling the players it was far from good enough and others will be given a chance. That's what managers/management teams do. Without endless resources we can't just get new players in.
- We do not see the players at training all week, I assume they play people on merit.
- Wellard, yes he has some pretty ropey games, but how many assists has he got? I often see him play good intelligent balls through, not sure he gets enough credit for that.

I get no fan likes to see a terrible performance from the team they support, but do some people need a reality check? Unless we get serious investment or magically get 1200+a week we will always be in the lower half of the table always looking over our shoulder and experience bad games and bad runs. Then again Faz kept us in the league and went on a really good run earlier in the year and we are in the second round of the FA cup. In my eyes its far from the end of the world!

 Spot on!

Having a go at the management for yesterday and calling for them to be sacked is lunacy. I ran out of fingers to keep count of the times the management team gave specific instructions to individuals only to be pretty much ignored.

Luckily we've got compettion in the squad and players who will be training hard for a place in the squad against Lincoln and Carlisle.

My programme has the correct Faza's notes and player stats appear to be up to date too.

I get your point totally...my job has changed and I work all week plus a lot of weekends....but...I coukd change flights etc to go to the games...nothing fills me with the idea I should do so.....I get 2 or 3 people who ARE at the game letting me know what it is like but words like...terrible...clueless....shocking...no ideas doesnt fill me with the enthusiasm

I fear the cup iscalso killing us right now....money earned is not benefitting the team....their minds are probably on 2 weeks time and the BBC cameras......the game against Guisely is as predicted coming to haunt us

Do I think we can go to Lincoln and get a win....right now...no chance

Thanks Mr Commercial for attaching Faza's notes, I shall drop my programme in for you to investigate when I am passing!?? Perhaps it could become a valuable collectors item? Can only presume I got an erroneous copy that somehow picked up a wrong page link at the printers perhaps? Spooky though if mine was the only one...

Well....if the management team on numerous occaisions were ignored then the players involved need to be despatched to the Ryman league

Which games Mark? Like you I have to work some weekends and the evening games can be impossible and, like you, I've questioned whether I can be bothered to spend quite a lot of money going to Lincoln after Saturday, but on balance I will because if I gave up after watching a poor performance or two  I would have stopped watching Welling a very long time ago. I was at Guisely which was very poor but then we had three games where the level of performance was much improved before Saturday. Personally I don't think our supporters help turning on players, if they hear what's being said it must do wonders for their confidence.

I'm with you on this. I won't shout criticism at our players nor will I pick on individuals on here because I don't see how calling someone useless will motivate them to play better.

However, I can see the other side of the argument. It is not cheap getting into football matches even with the early bird season ticket and people are entitled to voice their views.

Yesterday's performance was truly awful so it is not surprising that people were/are upset.

I find losing to relegation rivals Boreham Wood, Guiseley & Southport without scoring a goal & playing appallingly in all three games deeply, deeply concerning.

Agree with that too....to stay up we need points from these games.....protecting bookings is NOT an excuse

We going to make up the points we threw a way against Guiseley by resting players, apparently. We can afford to sack off games , we're that good with that much strength in depth.

Tend to agree with comments about the FA Cup being a distraction. Yesterday was a 6 pointer the sort of game that must not be lost. As for sacking the management team...no! They must learn from mistakes and quickly. At an earlier match they had clearly had a row and did not communicate with each other for the whole of the first half! There is a need for professionalism on all fronts to survive in this league.

Mind you, beat Carlisle and get drawn away to Man United...then the distraction will have been worth it!

I just wish we would stop talking about the cup, 5pm next Saturday is the time to start dreaming and pontificating about Carlisle.
I do agree though with the theory of putting the recent poor results down to avoiding red and yellow cards because of the emphasis being put on the cup. When was the last time we got through 3 league matches in a row without a card? Has it ever happened before? Is this a sign the players are not so committed to the cause? Although against that, up to yesterday any one match ban would have been served before the cup game. I think the management showed their colours by the so called resting of players before the Barwell game and I don't think we will see a good show at Lincoln, hope I am wrong,
but IMO, things won't improve until we are out of the cup.

I have to say I was disappointed with the post match interview with the management team. They were clearly disappointed with the performance, as we all were, but not once did they suggest they could have done anything, putting all the blame down to the players not taking responsibility and not doing what they were told. To me this is very poor leadership and we must have everybody pulling together, behind a clear lead if we are going to survive. So whilst the players need a wake up call so does the management team, who still have my support.

Thats the KEY to management no matter what field you are in.....you cannot blame others when whatever happens it rests with you

If one of my managers came to me with that excuse I would simply say 'what could or should YOU have done and what are you doing now to prevent a reoccurance'

Like many others I was more than disappointed (and a little surprised) at the lack lustre display on Saturday against a team that have been struggling all season. I am mystified as to what our management team scribble down in their technical area all game - and whose notes do we actually go with come half time...?! I have some stats they might want to scribble down

One win in eight league games and second bottom of the form table on goal difference only. The cup "heroics" have masked the poor league form (and, if we are being honest, that cup run could easily have ended on the very first game) We have been lucky with the draws and put away teams we should be beating at two levels below us.

I have no problem with one up front but the service has to be correct. If it is Porter then over the top of their defence or down the channels and not pumped straight at him with two big centre halves at his back. Having said that of course it may well be pointless playing the ball down the channels anyway as the opposition penalty area (and in particular the six yard area) at PVR clearly has a force field around it which prevents any red shirts from entering it. There were a few decent deliveries in the second half on Saturday which could have been met by any one of five giant highlighter pens with not a red shirt in sight. Aside from one clever set piece in the first half and one Vidal free kick, the corners and other set pieces were woeful.

Messrs Harris, Porter, Wellard, Kabba, Obafemi and Adeyinka have made 79 starts (plus 29 sub appearances) between them this season and scored the princely sum of 10 goals - there is a bloke at FC Halifax who are bottom of the league who has scored 12 on his f****** own?! The first two in that list at least show effort and commitment week in week out but neither will ever be a prolific scorer in my humble opinion. I realise we can't just pluck a 15-20 goal a season man out of thin air (although we did with Rossco...) but they do exist at all levels of non league. I also realise that we don't have a massive budget which makes it all the more critical that we don't waste it on unfit, uninterested or simply not good enough players - the fault here lies with the management as much as anyone else for putting them on all on contract and giving themselves no room for manoeuvre at all - naďve at best and downright stupid at worst. And before anyone pipes up about KSA I think we saw enough last season to realise he is part of the problem and not the solution.

Thank heavens for a decent back four and the hard work of Corne and Lee in front of them without which we would already be a bottom four outfit. But we can't expect them to bail us out week in week out. When the other team scores first does anyone really think we will get anything more than a point out of a game...if that. 22 league games to date and we haven't scored more than two in any of them. No penalties at all either although that is probably down to the aforementioned force field.

If there is no room for squad changes then it really will be a long hard winter. There has to be some "outs" before there are some "ins" but who is really going to take any of the under achievers off our hands...??

Not happy....not happy at all.

Firstly, I was not there on Saturday

Secondly I do not expect our team to go out and set the agenda at Grimsby, Tranmere, Cheltenham and other big guns in the league. Given we aren't going to do that and we may not pick up much as a result, we absolutely MUST go out and set the agenda POSITIVELY against teams around us. At the moment we seem to be in the former mind set against everyone and I don't think that will work long term.

Finally I realise I am an old scrote and not everyone who contributes to this board was around last time we were relegated. I cannot think of one time we 'went for it' until the penultimate game of the season, at home to the league leaders R&D and subsequently let in the goals that led to our demise. Can we not leave it until we are boxed in a corner with only difficult options this time? Last time we may have wound up with exactly the same outcome if we had been more positive however I would have at least not spent the subsequent twelve years thinking we didn't give ourselves a proper chance!

Someone said earlier that it's not the managements fault if players don't listen. Who's is it then?? If you bring someone in, train them, give them instructions, pick them to play, then it becomes that persons fault? If we er honest we haven't played that well all season and have been quite lucky to not get spanked in a few games (Lincoln for one). Some games we ev seen players being moved all over the pitch into all sorts of positions, no wonder they get confused about what they are meant to be doing

For a second time this season, we didn't play our strongest team on the day against a relegation rival and both times we were thoroughly beaten. In the first game against Guiseley, we dropped Vidal ( yes l know he was on a booking along with Jefford and Corne) who scored four goals in the previous game and on Saturday, left out Bakare who netted two in his last three games! It's no wonder we're struggling to score goals if we continue to drop players directly after they have found some form in the front of the net!

We will do well to pick up any points in the remaining games this year!

Well, there is just one match to go before the Cup game - so, having not risked crucial players in previous games do we now play them and possibly blow what chance we have of getting a result against Carlisle? Don't forget, a win could put us in big money which could help solve many of the problems mentioned and, possibly, set the Wings up for many years.

Yes, it is a gamble - but one worth taking.  Incidentally, of the two players still under threat of a booking and ban, Ben Jefford looked like he took a heavy knock on Saturday and could well, correctly, be rested. And I wonder whether the Lincoln match is really one for a player like Xavi to start?

I think Saturday loss was more basic, Southport from the off "wanted it more" and they keeped there shape well and organised them selves with two banks of four for most of the match, packed the goal mouth for corners etc they had a plan and their players appeared to know what there game plan was and stuck to it.

We had trouble trying to break them down, they hit us on the counter attack and scored, I felt they came here for at least a point and ended up getting all three.

totally agree Wingnut! couldnt we get that Halifax striker or someone of that ilk. I am shocked as you are that when a player does come into form he is dropped. What was the reason for not starting with Bakare? Then surprisingly we bring on Adeyinka who doesnt look likely to score either. when the club were looking for a fourth official to help at the Southport game I thought it was more apt for them to ask whether there was anyone in the crowd who fancied coming on to play up front or at least have a shot!

Surely a lot of the above comments highlight the fact that neither the fans, nor apparently the management team, know what is the best starting 11, and the best positions / formations. When injuries and suspensions take their toll we never seem to adapt the plan, if we have one, to get the best out of the incoming players.
